Alpair MAOP 10.2

what was wrong with the 12p?
better question, what is good?
i have tried 4-5 different boxes for it, loosing only time and resources. no any pleasure in that process. painful for the pocket and ears.
left some notes here
https://www.diyaudio.com/community/threads/alpair-10p-or-12p.304620/
bass is not ok, mids and heighs making listenieng fatique. i have somewhere measurements, there is some hi energy around 7-8kHz which makes all music unpleasantly bright. tried many BSC but it is not that.
in one test i put woolen jumper over the speaker. then the sound wass better. absurd.

all this irritation dissapered with maop 10.2 which i listen all the time. all the other speaker boxes (10+ pairs) are stored (at the moment) out from wifes eyes :p
Maop10.2 is the best driver.
I am very happy with that.
Maybe the choice of amps can make difference. With mine tubeamp, all drivers sounds well.

Newbee here. I'm interested in building a FHXL for either the Mark Audio 10P or MOAP 10. Sorry for this stupid question but I've been reading this forum and I'm a bit confused about nomenclature. In referring to Mark Audio drivers I see things like MOAP 10.2 or Altpair 12.2p, etc. What is the significance of the decimal point followed by a number? Is Mark Audio Alpair 10P the same as Alpair 10.2P? When I look on Madisound for Mark Audio drivers I don't see the decimal point nomenclature used?
Thanks, John.

The decimal point followed by a number would indicate a revision to the preceding model. AFAIK, there's no such thing as an A12.2p, or an A10.2p, as both paper drivers have never received a revision.

There's also no "t" in Alpair. :)

Thanks everyone. I noticed on Madisound that the MOAP 10 is significantly more expensive (2X) than the 10P. Is the MOAP 10 worth the extra cost? I realize the answer to this question may be somewhat subjective, but I'm willing to go the extra cost if the sound is better (whatever that means). Generally using low power SET tube amps, moderate levels, mostly classical, some jazz, no vocals. Does the MOAP 10 require a break in period similar to the 10P?
Thanks again, John

Very close, perhaps a tad more neutral.

Based on this it is probably not worth it to get a pair to put in my Frugel-horn Mk3. I will most likely get a pair of MAOP10 or MAOP11, haven't decided as yet but based on what I see in this thread it looks like the MAOP10 is the better choice. I will either build the Frugel-Horn XL or the MiniOnken.

10.2 Maop is still my favorite. In a miniOnken cabinet.

I've joined the MAOP 10 owner club today. They'll be in my hands next week some time! Very excited to get these into their Mar-Ken enclosures.
My biggest struggle at the moment is finding something in Australia appropriate for lining the interior of the cabinets! Any Aussies got any clues? Otherwise I might need to import something.

Cheers!

These arrived today. I ordered them from SoundImports.EU Thursday afternoon and they we delivered this morning in PA, USA. The blueish colour on the one driver is due to me taking the photo near to my salt water aquarium.
