Universal PCB for Purifi 1ET400A amps

Just listen an hour to the amp. It sounds realy good. Soundstage is wider. Just i am used from good tube amps.

I used the 1et400a before with an 6n6p srpp preamp but this 6n6p mu follower does the job better. I like it and it stays.

Now i must build a nice housing like the rest.

Slightly on topic I hope, I was wondering if anyone could help me...
I bought a job lot of audio equipment a few months ago, amazed that one of the nondescript boxes was a Ghent cased Eval-1 Eigentakt which I was actually saving up for. Also there was SPK-5 the reason I answered the advert.
It obviously sounds great but I was wondering about the options of bypassing the buffer, if there's any benefit of not using it, or using a separate preamp.
Sources are usually a RPi with Lusya ES9038q2m DAC hat or Android phone with a surprising good £8 Cobia Zeal ES9023 USB dongle.
The preamp I use sometimes is a FX-Audio Tube 01 6J1 buffer/preamp.
My technical knowledge is fairly minimal.
I was wondering if I can rearrange the jumpers to bypass the on-board buffer or is there more involved in desoldering resistors etc? And will it be an upgrade?

Thanks in advance

You can bypass the Eval buffer easy with some jumper change, see Purifi manual page 8.
But then you need a preamp with 8 to 10 Vrms output. But you can try your 6J1 preamp for that.
Preamps must drive 2k2 inlet impedance of the 1et400a amp, if they are not capable then distorsion goes up.

But Eval buffer board is really good. I would only change that to ad some other sound. Technical it will not become much better.

The latest 6n6p tube buffer make not better specs, but colours the sound just a little bit. With also good specs for a tube preamp.

Hi Koifarm,

Thank you for your reply and I information, that has been very useful.

About getting the connectors,

H2, SSW-118-02-T-D-RA : I ordered 40pin or bigger part and cut it down to 36pin.

H7, T821110A1S100CEU : You can also search for IDC 10 pin connector. I bought them from ebay.

H5 & H6 for the speakers : Those are 6.3mm faston pcb connectors.

C4 of the mute timing circuit i changed from 470uf to 1000uf because of the short time. Tubes are not hot enough after 11 sec witch results in a popping on noise. Now it is about 20 sec.

As you requested. The 4 pin is a 2 x 2 pin.

These are when you use your own power supply and not the hypex smps1200A400.
And for the tube preamp heater and anode supply.
