Thanks for the feedback seipersei. I believe you are correct, it is a Galaxy 247 front panel.
Front Panel Express has their own software (very simple for guys like me) so if I know the spacing I can locate them appropriately. I looked on the Modushop website without any luck.

Right, I found the measurements of my own front panel design. Take this with a pinch of salt because I used the 3mm thick version and I can’t find the DWG for the 10mm version, and as HiFi2000‘s website was just renewed a lot of their links are broken at the moment so I can’t download their original file to double check. However I‘m pretty sure the front panels are interchangeable so the mounting holes should be the same. Also, ignore the other holes as they’re for my own choice of components and so they may not fit the DIY Audio store kitThanks for the feedback seipersei. Ne sono lieto 🙂 And good luck to Karl with this project!Sorry Gianluca, I didn’t see that you already replied to Karl. By the way grazie mille for the Galaxy, it turned out exactly how I wanted it![]()
Thank you both so much. I got notification shortly after my post that a package from the DIYAUDIO Store is on its way, a shorter wait than I was expecting,
I better get the bench cleaned up!
Thanks again,
Karl

Hi Guy's, Sorry for the repeat question, but DIY search cannot find it!! can anyone advise the Post No for when ClaudeG advised of what capacitors could be upgraded on this unit.

I've just completed building my second B1-K, using the output cap values proposed by Claude, and it sounds terrific.

Mean Well 24V SMPS with Mark Johnson's PO89ZB inline DC filter for now, with Salas UltraBiB plannedwhat PSU are you using on that?
It's up and running. NuTube has a nice blue-green glow. TPs 5&6 - .66 - .68 V. TPs 7&8 started out close to/just over 11 and adjusted down to the recommended 9.5V. The off-board caps are stuck to the bottom of the chassis with Blu-Tac and the PM NuTube mount is held gently in place with a Blu-Tac/Foam/Blu-Tac sandwich. I removed the anodizing on the panel contact points/screw locations and connected a single ground wire from one corner. The sound check on the bench showed no hum or noticeable microphonics, even without the top plate installed. Now I need to find appropriate volume knobs and give it a proper listen in the upstairs rig.
Thank everyone that contributed to this thread and project; especially Mr. Pass.

Enjoy this little unit and don't hesitate to play with the bias - 9.5V is given as a basic indication (and quite a nice middle way I would say)... depending on your very own preferences and what the rest of your system is producing in terms of harmonics you may want to find YOUR best sounding bias value.
The B1K sound is quite sensitive to this bias, it makes quite a difference in the sonic signature so it is IMHO worth playing with it - this adjustability is another great thing provided by this little jewel...
Have fun

I echo what Claude said.
I found my ideal bias setting for both of my NuTube preamps I built to be @ 9.20 volts.
Nice revealing articulation between the string instruments and a very natural timbre on wind instruments. Percussion sounds have that realistic lifelike sound that’s not booming or flat and dull. I sense a little bit more of a spatial feel of instrument placement at that voltage than the 9.50 volt starting point. Going higher seem to degrade the sound for me with my setup.
I used some of my favorite female musicians that I’m highly familiar with to dial in my setting preference. Particularly vocalist like Erja Lyytinen and her album “Grip of The Blues” her vocals are full and natural sounding . Most well recorded material of female voices have that chesty, solid, and coherent vibe to it @ the 9.20 volt setting for me. My setup currently is using my JBL L7 speakers and Nakamichi PA-5 non-molested amplifier.

Fired up the PCB tonight, happy blue lights in the Nutube. Hope to finish it all up by the weekend. Can’t wait! Thanks to Papa and Jason & Co!
Hello Andy,
have fun with the B1 Nutube - pre. Excellent preamp.
I would start with the voltage adjusted around 9,7 volts (at T7/T8). Go up and down in small steps. Also try reversed polarity at speakeroutput of poweramp.
Whatever sounds better to your ears... 🎼🎶

Cheers
