Power Supply Options
Aside from the clunky factor of two plug ins, can two separate SPMS supplies work?
If so, how about using two of these:
WSU150-0560 Triad Magnetics | Mouser
$7.25 X2 is fairly inexpensive for 500 mA of current. Extra filter caps are already available on Wayne's board.
Clean things up a bit with some inductors in series with the V+ and V-:
2 of these with some 24ga wire turns on the core (swiped from the Noir design, thank you Mark J):

The high current output BA2018 config could use two of the Mean Well 18V, 18W GST series, which already include series inductors on their cords:

It would be interesting to compare the above to something like the Whammy regulated supply or a 36VDC SMPS with a virtual ground adapter circuit like the Goldpoint:

All these dueling PSUs have me really confused now. Is the Universal PSU in the store terminal overkill? At least I've built one of those before...

Universal PSU board is designed primarily for high current, unregulated power amp use. If using for BA2018, seems like adding regulation to it would be a good thing.
Yes, weight of board, size and thickness of traces, oversize snap in capacitors, etc., all are major overkill for this application.

Ok, in that case, what about this one: Dual/Bipolar LV-Reg
With this toroid: AS-0518 - 50VA 18V Transformer - AnTek Products Corp
Thanks,

This is the exact power supply board and transformer I used on my build, works excellent!

I used exactly that transformer and that Power supply. Perfect. 6L6 suggested both to me with original pre-store boards.

I kinda wish I had ordered one of the Glassware attenuator boards when I ordered the power supply board, 6L6 used one on the build at the beginning of the thread.
TOSHIBA 2SK209GR measurements
Hello members,
this late afternoon I thought that I could test/measure some JFets. I got most of my parts for Waynes -BAF2018 -linestage. Still waiting for the boards (hanging around at the customs).
I tested the first batch of 10 TOSHIBA 2SK209GR from the reel (I did not buy a complete reel!).
My measurements are really promising! No real need for matching - but I will do it.
V GS(off) V GS(on) gfs Idss RDS(on)
V V mA/V mA Ohm
1 0,43 0,13 17,6 2,87 44,5
2 0,43 0,12 17,5 2,86 44,1
3 0,43 0,12 16,9 2,81 44,2
4 0,43 0,12 16,7 2,93 44,2
5 0,43 0,13 17,3 2,89 44,4
6 0,43 0,12 17,3 2,92 44,6
7 0,43 0,13 17,6 2,91 44,3
8 0,44 0,12 17,1 2,93 44,2
9 0,43 0,13 16,6 2,96 44,2
10 0,44 0,12 17,1 2,94 44,2
I don:t know how exactly my measurements are? 🙄 But the TOSHIBAS seem
to be very consistent from the reel....

That is great information! Thank you for posting your findings.
What you show there may be the reason that nobody has had any issues building this with random parts. Very nice.

2SK170 will probably work and the BF862 although some resistor adjustment might be needed.
All the one’s I built just pulled parts off the reel if I remember correctly.

Having had no experience with toroidal transformers prior to building these audio projects I am not sure where to land the shield wire on the toroid. Ground plate?

Whose attenuator is that?
Larry
Looks like an Alps, R27? Available at Parts Express and other suppliers. not sure what is attached, some kind of terminal block thingy?
Russellc
Nice chassis Jim, is it available on the store?
looks like Galaxy, from store I believe. 2U?
