Hi,BC846BPN isn't a matched pair, it just shares the same package for thermal coupling. They work well but are a bit miserable to install by hand.
yes, the datasheet says only "Closely matched current gain", no exact values .
You don't have any experience with the Toshiba HN1B01F, so far?
When I'am right, the BC850/849 are the low noise types of the BC846/BC847. The other thing I'am interested is, the difference of BC817 series to the BC846/847 series?
Hi,
another short question:
which kind of emitter resistors are good to use in the Slewmaster OPS?
I normally use 5W SQP resistors in this kind of OPS.
Here is the Mouser part number for 0R22 value: SQP500JB-0R22

resistor values for Kypton-nd
Hi,
I realized, that there are differences in some values of the resistors between the schematic of the kypton-nd in this thread and the thread of the group buy?
Why are these changes made, because of the different transistor types used?

Here's the what I found for a starting point for resistors. There are some current flow readings that may need adjustment. These are measured after the input stage is completely warmed up.
R14, R15, R24, R25 require adjustment if you change the rails voltage.
You need to the current through R14, R15 unchanged - as soon as you increase the rails voltage, you need to increase the values of the resistors accordingly.
The same thing with R24, R25 - you need to have the VAS current at 5.5mA, higher rails voltage -> higher R24, R25 values.
Slewmaster IPS suggestion
Hi Friends,
I am planning to build a slewmaster combo for my Q-Acoustics 3050i floorstanders. Below are the IPS modules which I have shortlisted.
1. Wolverine-V1.2
2. Kypton ND
3. Spookyamp
OPS module would be either 'baby' or 'master'.
Could you please suggest the best musical IPS module from your experience so that I can build the same. I do not have the budget to try out different IPS stages. Sorry for that.
Thanks in advance.
Regards,
-Sha

I have build the Kypton ND , it sounds very good and I'm happy. Some people build a lot of different ip stages, I think Thimios did and the differences are very subtle as I remember. The VFA ip stages were said to be good in the bass area and the CFA ip's were better with midrange/ high frequency. The kypton nd is a cfa and I have no shortage of bass.
Please somebody remind me ...
What is the power output into 8 ohms of the SlewMini and at what voltages??
The two pair 'Mini' I'd suggest a max supply of +/-52V rails and it could deliver up to 150W with a good rigid PSU and perhaps a boosted (+5V) set of rails for the IPS to maximize output.

Jason,
You did a really nice job designing it! Thank you for that.

I built and tested all three. The Spooky bass goes a little deeper on a scope but I doubt it is discernable to the ear. The Wolverine is a Honey Badger and the Kypton ND is a CFA with a super pair in the VAS. They all sound perfect.

Are you referring to the gerbers in post 279?
