So you streak-stained over the pink coat to achieve the faux wood grain?.
i applied the stain using a rag in liberal amount. then wiped off the excess in straight pattern. doesnt need to be uniform as to avoid looking unnatural.
yes, cant wait to apply the clear coat myself. will update in a day or two. thanks for appreciation. cheers!
Enio as usual very good job, love it...
any updates ?
about 90% finish now. just waiting for the cloth for the magnetic grill and the spikes.
initial impression
silky smooth just like the Original but with better bass extension. now i believe that they are indeed the improved version of the original! i think im gonna sell my original so i can buy 3 pairs of these.

Spent a little time at the weekend on my garden bluetooth speaker. Notice the lack of the word 'portable '....it's quite a big thing.
2 x Tectonic Elements BMR and 1 x Dayton Audio tcp115. All 8 ohms. Will be powered by a 2.1 3116 amp. Initially I am going to try a 12v 6ah motorbike battery and see how it fairs.
I have 15 litres of volume just for the drivers. Plans were first 2 small separate sealed for the bmrs and the remainder for the ported tcp115.
Pleased with my first foray into recessing speakers into wood.

A re-post of an amazing baffle-less open baffle system by member TrasnsFi over in Lencoheaven:

Very nice work and superb looking system. The PRV 5MR450NDY seems to be the weapon of choice. If you want to learn more about this under-utilized 95dB fullrange posing as a midrange PA driver, more info here.
I went over to the other site and read that whole thread
Those speakers look Very interesting

Yes, it looks like a lethal weapon. Inspired me too and work is in progress...

Couldn't pass up a deal on a pair of barely-used Alpair 10P, so I made Mar-Ken10pwTTs for them. 18mm Baltic birch ply with 9mm solid cherry vent spacers. Six coats of Trader Joe's French Roast coffee and three coats of Minwax satin polyurethane. They're a little bigger than the traps I made for FE103Sol.

Nice work Jeff!
The way you're churning out builds, you'll soon make the rank of Ken-Master Level-1... Chrisb is at the highest level, hall of famer, and lifetime "Ken" achievement winner.
I dunno how many of the P10 Onkens he's built... probably he has lost count by this time too!

Many. Or more than that.

Everything should be wrong but its what I had to hand. Im in the honeymoon period all sounds good to me bass a bit boomy and mids a bit muddled if I listen to the speaker not the music. Back in the Diy mood after not being able to for a couple of years. I blow my last fostex, dc through and no viocecole left . Then had to listen to B&W 603 2 for a year then they had a tweeter problem. I found some secondhand unused Alpair 10p the ones I always wanted online. I had these boxes cut some holes in some off cuts from a skip sprayed them black, soldered 5 cat single twisted onto them screwed in place connected to ACA 24v with hotrodded DCB1 and diy dac and Im now at around 50 hours in. when I have time and money I'll make some pencils but these are sounding great after the B&ws very pleased.
So im stuck with these for the moment has anyone got any suggestions to improve and make the best of a bad job?
Ive made a pdf drawing with the details metric and imperial, took as long as the speakers to make
