Maya R2R Advanced Volume controller

Thanks Tibi for the reply.

I'll add the thoughts to my list for the future, in case I can work out a way to externally replicate input button presses that will cycle through the inputs enough times from the input it is currently on - input position indication from the input relays/or I2C and logic to provide the right number of relay switches :)

I'm going to use a Quad FM4 case for my BPBBP/Maya build - shame to have the buttons unused.

Hi Tibi,

Thanks for the update.

Started testing today and I am happy to say that my volume problem has been solved now!
I now re-connected my home cinema input for the front speakers at 0dB attenuation.

Hi Tibi,
Unfortunately I did not test everything so my ears got hurt this evening but luckily no permanent damage...

I had input 1 at 0dB (Home theater), and input 2 at -40dB (Music player).
Normal up down is ok, but from input 1 to 2 with direct remote button 2 blew me out of the room.
The display shows the input 2 at -40dB but the real volume setting was 0dB attenuation from input 1.

So it is only solved when using the remote up/down input selection.
When u use the 1..4 buttons to switch directly it seems that the old problem is still there.
Hope you can fix it for all input change options, please check it carefully as it was not a pleasant experience.

@ Natdberg:
I am also using another cabinet with more buttons but expected the answer from Tibi regarding the extra buttons, it does not look like an easy add-on to the current hardware.
I have the idea to use an additional Arduino to pick up the normal remote signal and retransmit it for remote commands.
Then connect the extra buttons to the arduino that send the extra function commands when one of those buttons is pressed.
So it simulates the remote with direct button inputs but unfortunately at the moment this is not more than an idea...

Starting with Android 5, Google have added BLE support. We have unified mobile applications and now we have same Android and IOS application for MAYA.
We are going to drop support for Android 2.2 up to Android 4.4

A new group buy will follow in two weeks. New redesigned, gold platted, Maya boards are already in production.

We are going to offer ONE TIME small custom firmware for each individual. At startup instead "Vicol Audio", you can have any name you want.
There will be MAYA for BPBP as well with free Hans P. R-2R pcb - 2 input channel.
Group buy discounts will be 20% up to 20 orders and 33% over 50. See price in my webshop.

More info when board are ready.

Regards,
Tibi

Those who have MAYA for IOS (with BLE module) ...

As I have the current android version of the Maya and the new app is not compatible (no BLE) I have a few questions:
- Will the new app / functions also become available for all Maya users with the current android BT module?
- If not: with what BT module part no. can I update the board so that I can use the new app and get the support for new functions?

Hi AudioHome,

Thank you very much for feedback, we are working to clear this issue.

Regards,
Tibi

Hi Tibi,
It has been silent here for some time, hope all is going fine.

Any news on the fix for the volume issue?
If you need any additional info or test results please let me know.
Hope you can fix it because the volume control is much better!

Also interested to see the new Maya version that you planned to introduce last month.
For now I have only seen the new boards and they looked sharp in gold and red.

On a side note:
Can anyone give some info about the IOS bluetooth module?
If possible I would like to update my currect set-up with a new module.
The old android one is a BTM182, I still don't know what the IOS type is.
Maybe someone has a picture of the module?

Hi,

New PCB is ready, we already mounted and tested several boards and a group buy will follow with shipping in June.
We developed a new MAYA firmware with lot new features.
We also switched to BLE with both mobile OS's, Android and IOS. Unfortunately developing for Android is a total mess. Some hardware is working some not, some may work but have custom Android version where by intention BLE is not supported.
On top of this, Android 8 come with some important modifications in bluetooth stack.
I wanted to offer an application for Sailfish as well, but their BLE API is far from complete.
IOS blutooth module is based on HM-10. We are going to offer IOS modules at a good price, but you'll need to upload a new firmware.

Regards,
Tibi
