Hello

I have a question about GND and EARTH.
it seems that all the steel spacer (3 on DPS, 4 on SPS) are connected to GND.
this means that the GND will go straigth to the chassis.

then the 4 th spacer on the DPS which is dedicated to EARTH will be also going to the chassis. Then GND=chassi=EARTH, right ,

is it a mandatory recomandation from you, or we could choose a floating GND by changing the spacers ?
I m asking because all my other audio equipemetn were having GND floating...

thank you

Float -GND

This smps, need heart connection, the screw reserved for this feature is located near to the AC Main CN. (of course we are also on the frame).
Now we can decide if want the isolate-GND.
Change 3 spacers with isolator material, on smps.
PBTU-3 is already isolated
Proceed with SDA-400, changing the spacers.

"Hi Fabrice,
Uh! Your stereo is perhaps the smallest in the world?" -AP2

hahaha

It does look tight in that chassis!

Even with your ESL your bent humor comes out.

I bet you're a really funny guy in Italian aren't you!

Hi Justin, in the end I think you have more humor. Ahahah!

About VSSA amps, I have not heard impressions with DPS-400. Also Audionootje bought 2xDPS-500/42V, but has not posted the results, he may not have tried.
But I'm sure others will come out well. :)

Hello,

just to double check the quality of AP2's product before a serious integration, I ve just tried
Détails du Torrent "Hadouk Trio - Live a FIP (2003) [FLAC]" :: T411 - Torrent 411 - Tracker Torrent Français - French Torrent Tracker - Tracker Torrent Fr
track 1 CD1 at -12db (0db=2Vrms)

please verify yourself.

"tick the box"
I can now proceed with integration without any doubt :)
Lovely song, contains many shades and guitar (with all details) then ... is fantastic.
I think a good balance is achieved with the version of "Dual-Mono" or 2xMDA-400.

...And I also think that mounting in a professional case, can to bother to many Class D amps, which some have low thd, but in the end have the same typical defects, which I hate.
..Just "OT", heheh, there is an MDA-400 100w Guitar .... a pleasure, compared also with tube guitar amps :)
Thank Fabrice

I couldn't figure out how to download the CD from this lonk without having to enter a credit card for a torrent or usenet file... So I bought the album at Qobuz in lossless format!

Really good btw!

AP2, I'm preparing to install those amp modules directly in my Astasia SD speakers in bi-amp, I'll wait to get the L brackets from you... You know those metal things... :D

Ciao!
Do

Hello!

yes I should have given the qobuz link instead, also you can just by the 1st track :)

Pinnochio, we aree missing your feedbacks on this nice piece of hardware !!!

BTW, i realized this morning, that a stereo configuration needs more than 1 single DPS. Roberto is right suggesting a dual mono like MDA400

Hi Fabrice,
Well I tried, the version as dual mono kit-1, the answer is very deep, I measured repetitive peaks (with my B & W 802 II) to 420w per channel. amateur mature not recognized as Class D. :D
well, we expect a nice rewiew from Pinnocchio, in his case with multi way, does not require a single amp smps for.

P.S. if you change idea, I can send you 1xdps-400+pbtu-3 filter.;)

Good morning guys,
A special thanks to those who have divulged the feeling of listening and also the good manufactory of these products with various nice pictures also.
I am busy with some new products, such as "EVA amp" and the smps new Nexus, the first with two independent power-control unit and feedback, one for each side of power. A perfect symbiosis with EVA amp.

I believe that I can now open a new thread on the DPS-500 with some news...

I'm still curious though some have tried the DPS-400 amps on VSSA as CafèNoir etc..
Maybe it's as secret?? :p

regards

Hello Roberto, I hope you ll get some feedback soon from the others. From my side, I need now to integrate everything, but the first listening on the stereo config was just stunning !

I have a question. As it is possible to use the SDA also for subwoofer obviously, I m thinking about using the XLR (in+ / in-) as an easy way to do "MFB" (motion feedback) by directly connecting an acceleration sensor like ACH-01, on the in- !

I understand the amp is given for a gain of 27db and the full power is reached when their is a 2VRMS between in+ and in-. right ?

The question is : is it possible to modify the amplifier gain to have say 6db more ?

Hello !
today I have an additional question :)

I m planning to add some common mode choke between the SMPS and the VSSA, because I m driving compression and tweeter and I do not want to take any risk :)
Goal is to reduce the residual 108khz noise by some more db, probably you will say it is not necessary :)

I ve selected this model from mouser catalog : 80-SCR-050-0R9A070J
idea is to have one between each rail and gnd before going to VSSA.

V+ ---/\/\/\--- V+ VSSA
..........===
gnd---/\/\/\--- gnd VSSA

gnd --/\/\/\--- gnd VSSA
..........===
V- ---/\/\/\--- V- VSSA

question, is it better to position the choke between the DPS-PSU and the VSSA, or between the DPS and PSU-VSSA ? ...
as you might know, there is additional capacitor also on the VSSA PCB (1x1000uF on each rail).

what do you think ?

thank you
fabrice

you have measured the residual HF output? The DPS-400 already has a dual LC filter output.
yes, I can certainly say that you do not need, but if you want to put, of course it is better to near vcc entrance of the VSSA. I add, 2x100nF good poliestere (not smd) just on output of filter (one cap for each filter).

You can modify your input sensitivity in MDA / SDA. input is used as an NE5532 OP "pre", by default it has a very small gain, and is located outside the FB.
Just change smd resistor. I tested well up to 32db total gain. no problem, no noise Increase, as audible.
I send the partial scheme via email.

Ah-Ah! You not want this toys? it's just an amplifier... no other :D

OK AP2 you can be the first to answer my Question . and I want your toys , if they are good ! I asked the SAME question to Hypex , Connexelectronics and you , and NOBODY answered my question ! You all talk about monoblocks etc . But every question I ask about intermodulation distortion is wimped away by all off the above mentioned included yourself , the big question is STEREO ! Does your amp sounds right in stereo , Hypex could not answer me , technicaly , nor could Christy ( He didn't reply ) you did reply , ( I loved your comment , you're a great salesperson ;) ) BUT THERE is something wrong with class D in stereo mode !! if not , convince me !!

Cheers ,

Hi,
We can see this "problem" from two angles. (referring to any devices, not only to the Class D amp then)
I state that, in these amps there is no noise or beat, or other audible phenomenon in the case of two modules very near, as there is no visible thd although simultaneously measures the two outputs. this is beyond doubt.
But in the absolute point of view, there is a "dyssynchrony that moves very quickly (like two cars that run in a circle), imagine that the point where they meet is the point where an error exists between the two audio devices, in this case amplifiers., but you also have to assume that the speed of the two cars is not the same, and is not constant. then, if not there are other problems (unfortunately some amps have.) it is impossible to perceive any effect due to dyssynchrony.
sorry for the simplified explanation. :)
---------
Then we go back to the same point important. we need a good project, well made , taking care of all the good points arise only from the knowledge.
The universe is full of complex things , but the " Time " will transform them into simple things !
