So...sign me in for one dps-500 DA 52-54
Ciao

Hi,
I do not agree. what is the point to buy a very good amplifier, fast and with low output impedance, and sacrifice with a psu for Both?
I agree that .. the less you know, the easier it is everything.😀

Erf I dont know where I'm gonna find those plastic spacer/screw.

I have to use this setup because I don't have enough free space to place them apart in my case. I'll check on ebay 😉

I'll try to get a picture of my speaker Roberto but it's a DIY active build 3 way!

edit: Here is the woofer your sda-400 will be associated to.

Hi,
Oh!..A nice idea with very nice results at the end for your case.
For speaker,I'd be curious to see some photo showing the mounting of your speakers (as is done inside).
I'm interested in your project speakers.

And ... I see a lot of nice material.🙂
I have no doubt that your SDA-400 will push your good woofers.😉
(you've already tried a SDA-400 in full range?)

P.S. for isolated spacers, see this: www.it.rs-online.com/web/p/distanziali-tondi/2652237/
1 package=100pz. not bad

Hello folks!

so I got my pack unpacked yesterday.
lots of good things in there 🙂
I ve soldered the PSU, and started to put things together :
An externally hosted image should be here but it was not working when we last tested it.

On the 4 PSU kits, one was containing "394" capacitors, the 3 other containing "474" so it seems there was a mis-handling or a shortage in some components at MDI. Also I thought it should be 100nf but seems to be lowered now. but ok, I ve soldered them directly on the legs of the Elna on the solder side of the PCB.

also in one of the kit, there was a wrong connector (5 pins instead of 3) see picture rectange "B"

also 2 of the plastic bags containing the kits didnt survive traveling across the Alps and then I m missing one pin for the PSU connector, see rectangle "D"

now I try to see if the 2 kits I received are ok, and I have trouble to figure out how to link the DPS with the SPS for the 4 pins connectors, rectangle "C" and "E". you provided a 4 wire cable (rectangle "F") but I cannot find any female 4 pins connector. Instead, I have 4 connectors which are 2 pins and 20 crimps, see rectangle "A"

Also regarding the connection of the PCB with XLR and Pots, I m missing HE10 headers and connectors, may be they were not included in the deal ? okay, then I need to order them on mouser or so 🙂 ?

finally when it comes to the screws provided, I m a bit lost, I feel that we miss some screws to properly mount the PSU PCB and I m not sure what to do with the one provided !

I m happy with deal as the value for money looks great 🙂
Roberto may I kindly ask you to send me an envellope by standard mail with the missing parts ? (1x3pin connector fir PSU board, 1 femelle pin, 6x4pin connectors with 4 additional crimps) thank you in advance

stay tuned for the listening results !

Hello Fabrizio, Uh! I see my forgetfulness increase. 🙂
We use it as a bypass at the output, 394-474 (Murata Jellow-caps), there is no need to add 100nF below. obvious that they are usually all the same, I did not look good.
ok, today send small package as requested, and no problem .. I'm sorry.

Screws: smps as you see, are complete of screws on top and spacers 7mm. I can not put in package bottom screws, becouse not know how assemble you (type of screw, length etc).
8x black screws 3MAx8mm are for XLR connectors.
A few notes:
it is important that two smps for SDA-Amps, do not invert with the version for class AB. I saw that you marked "AB" on the heatsink.
for AB, have LM317 ref to gnd, as your request. (instead, ref to VN for SDA-Amp). the SDA is destroyed in this case.

I hope you have good ears for DPS-400-> VSSA amps 🙂, I think that unfortunately, you have no other smps to compare the results.
One strange... I remember very well 8 x 10Pin connectors for pcb side, input board,...where have they gone?
Well, a lot of high quality parts you have....eheh!
All connectors are MOLEX except 10Pin male/female.

Regards

I didn't get the 4 pins connectors also maxidcx (I had to buy them on ebay) and the 2 pins are for the fan on the bottom right of the smps on your picture.

Roberto can I use a 120mm fan rated at 0.2A on the fan output of the smps?
Hi Alexander,
As long, as shown in the thread, this connector (2PIN) was programmed as Remote Control On / Off (see various pics). but, considering that from the switch main, the DPS-400 turns off clean, quickly, you can reuse the function FAN 12V 120mA. in this case I have to send the very simple modify.
So as to default, all DPS-400 have the Remote Control in this CN.
