That all seems a bit Heath Robinson to me! :)
When I was a boy, I'd head off to the British Council library to get a Heath Robinson book, then to the American library attached to the US Consulate for some Rube Goldberg. :)

I don't know if the two men were aware of each other's body of work, but Robinson seems to have started drawing his signature cartoons several years before Goldberg.

I read that Heath Robinson's name was included in the dictionary from 1912 as a synonym for absurd, ingenious and over-complicated makeshift devices.

The use of Rube Goldberg's name for the same purpose dates from 1928.

For balance, I attach an image of a Rude Goldberg machine.
