Heat issue too.
Of course the bass amp have to meet the requirements, but classA is a waste of money and energy.
Just my opinion.

So you confirm that it is, in fact, just an economy issue.

Congratulations Bill, your's is one of the most sexy F5 amps that has appeared around here...IMHO

Maybe on the F5 it works better for it to be in Class-a, from experience with other amplifiers, this is not the case and full class-a tend not to have the life exhibited by a good a/ab amplifier. class-A can be smooth, but dead by comparison.
 
Now it is really finish. The first amp the even my wife can use :)

(well, it is solidly connected to a DAC with output caps and delay circuit, so no issues, at least on the input)

I think I will drill some holes in the shape of F5 on the top for ventilation. Now is kind of sealed, although the temperature inside is around 50 C.

I also think I will have to put a bumper on the edges, if I do not want my son to have the heatsink imprinted in his forehead sooner or later :) (But this would be temporary)
