Podríais poner medidas exactas con sus curvas y rectas de la caja boenicke w5 para realizarla en CNC. Seria de agradecer. Muchas gracias

You could put exact measurements with their curves and lines of the boenicke w5 box to perform it in CNC. It would be to be appreciated. Thanks a lot
Hello all!
I have 2 pieces of tb w6 1139sif speakers.
I understand that W5 uses 5 inch woofers. Do you think is possible to use mine 6.5 inch with a little bit bigger enclosure? Designed just like this one ?

I'm sure you can build similar pair of speakers with that, but probably not going to be the same.
I find this project interesting, utilising side-firing bass drivers and give a small footprint. I've seen a project on YouTube by SoundBlab using the same base and mid units as the W5SE (TB W5-1138SMF and Fountek FE85) but different tweeter and in larger cabinets with downward firing ports.
I don’t know about W6-1139SIF but I’m sure you can build nice speakers with those, but they will not be W5 clones.
Hi, i know it's been a while but do you have the CNC file for the W5?
Last year at the Munich Fair I was impressed with boenicke w5, but unfortunately price is bigger than my limit , especially SE version
Since we have design studio and 2 CNC machine (for other purpose) I tried to do it something similar, but way is more than complicate since need to make holes on 3 different side s
No meter, if not counting our time, material, drivers, crossover and rest is almost 20 percent of price of W5SE
After I test it, sound is more than awesome
Here is couple pict from production process
BTW my workmates is also make pair for him, and we order material for one pair for our office 🙂

Hi,
great work man!
say, can you share all measurements including the inside curves?
I want to use CNC to do it
thnx

Hello.
I have build a pair of W5 SE clones and want to share some info and ideas.

I have taken measurements from the drivers because I couldn’t see any trustable crossover over the web. After that, I have simulated all the crossovers available and I think none of them are the best choice. At least with my measurements (calibrated mic and Arta software).
First, my measurements say that rear tweeter has minimum influence in the system because the rear position makes it being like 15dB les than fullrange driver Fountek FE85.
Second, you don’t have to worry for the TB W5-1138SMF Subwoofer from 1KHz as it won’t be heard.
Third the FE85 in my cabinet has a big dip between 5KHz and 11KHz much bigger than the one in the Fountek specs.

The same dip problem can be seen in this measurements:

CNC file
Hi man, do u have the cnc file for the w5's?
Hi man, do u have the cnc file for the w5's?
I would suggest you dont take MDF. Make it like Boenicke does it in the originals, looks a lot better in the end and you will not have any problems with veneering it.
Hi man,
Great work on the w5!
Any chance u can share all inside measurements or cnc machine file?
Thnx

Filter of w5
Hi man
Can u please share the filter diagram?
Hi man
Can u please share the filter diagram?
No, they are not. The Subs are correct, the FRs not. The W5 uses the Fountek FE85. There are reasons, why Sven uses the FE85. Its very linear over a long frequency range and can go very loud with only little distortions. They are used with and Obbligato 10uF in the W5SE and sound very nice.
I also tried many different 3inch Fullrange drivers and I can tell you, that the FE85 fit perfectly in this little speaker. Going lower with crossover was not really an improvement.
After a very long Fullrange 3 inch journey i came back to the FE85 from the originals. The only better choice were the W3-1878, but they cost about 7 times more here in germany.
Good luck with the clones and i wish fun with them. By far the nicest small speakers i know.
Im not sure about this carpenters? since speaker consist cabinet, driver, crossover, ... I see some project with cardboard cabinet but if U educate yourself a little bit more, u can find that is one favorite HI FI company make cabinet and after that make drivers to adapt to this cabinet (to help U, at first company make just drivers, now U can not buy drivers, only complete speakers)
Ill attach scheme , pict and impedance dia ...
Crossover, very limited, with poor components
Hello. This is my clone: Boenicke W5 clone (SE) Track 7 - YouTube
It sounds very good.
I have found the drivers.
Cost under €200.
Need a box and filter.
Do you think it worth to build?
Regard/Leif

The most important question -for me- about these speakers is the nice looking even more than the sound.
the sound is good for the size, but the looking can be really impressive
Ok.. The cost for the drivers is low for a pair of speakers who cost more then $6000.If you can build a nice cabinet it worth the money.

Typically we can gues sthat parts cost a tenth or twentieth of the retail. So we could guess $300-600 for parts. Gievn the $10 midTweeter unlikely they are spending that much.

SE and SE + give a little better sound.Vanligtvis kan vi gissa att delar kostar en tiondel eller tjugondel av detaljhandeln. Så vi kunde gissa $300-600 för delar. Givet $10 midTweeter är osannolikt att de spenderar så mycket.

But much more cost

80-82 db!
If anyone is interested, I’ve made 3D models of these in Fusion360. I can share the stl or fusion files. I’ve printed them in 8 parts and I’m just waiting for the crossover parts to arrive.
