the resistor dissipates the power as heat and needs to be mounted to a heatsink. Lightbulbs don't need heatsinking (at least I don't think they do, how would that be done?) and the power is released as both heat and light (hence, less heat).

Last question: why do you make a balanced zen lite, and not simply a soz with light bulbs?
Simple: SOZ is a different pair a bal Zen Lite not 😎
Moreover there are not many light bulbs that looks like 8 ohm

John,
just do a mirror of the complete circuit without a connection in between except for the ground and + rail.

figure 15? why not figure 16?
This is the schematic that I'm trying to work with.balanced Zenlite w/out output caps

some years ago, I rode somewhere that a classical light (the ones you have on your roof) dissipates 96% of it's energy in heat, and only 4% in light
but I'm not sure if it's true or not
Bricolo,
It is excellent if most of the energy is released as heat, I only want a bit of illumation.

Perhaps I should use a pot beneath R3 in Stefano's schematics
Stefano, what do you think? Could I adjust the FET mismatch this way.

Yes , quite good

nice to know that my memory still works good, sonce I'll be 21 years old in 35 minutes 😀
Oh my
Happy birthday, Bricolo!
Hey Stefano, you saved me the trouble of drawing the schematic! Thanks!

The lightbulbs do release most of it as heat (still, some a slight), but the point is they don't have to be heatsinked. Sorry if I couldn't get that across.

If you use enough in parallel and heat them up enough 8 ohm should be possible. But what are the advantages/disadvantages of SoZ with lightbulbs and lightbulb Zen balanced? Moreover there are not many light bulbs that looks like 8 ohm

Yes , of course. I find also that some bulbs are below 8 ohm , like car light bulbs , or some 24 volts bulbs.
We can see SOZ with 2 points of view:
1) If find 8 ohm - looks like- bulbs and build the amp like the original -- without feedbak --
2) Use other tipes of high voltage bulbs -not 8 ohm looks like- and design the amp includin' feedback.
In this case the difference between such an amp and a conventional SOZ/or a zenlitebal is : the amp is an X

Beside this the heatsinks do the difference!
how to use transformer correctly
Hi,
This is a diagram of a power supply I gleaned from a Hammond faq. I have 50-0-50 volt secondaries. If I read this schematic correctly, I could end up with 45 volts, no center tap and a whole bunch of current!
Any comments?
John
I'm not having any luck with the graphics.......
