A little unboxing therapy - I finally received my own copy of a production Galion TS Voyager TL speaker. This is from the second batch and the first time I have seen the production stained birch finish in person. It’s really nice - looks like walnut almost. I had to add some white into the image for the iPhone camera white balance to be accurate.
The packaging as usual was built to take a beating during transport with full hard cardboard corners:
And it is double boxed of course:
With nicely done custom cut foam inserts - those are the extra foam vent inserts in the cavity:
3M stick on rubber feet, desiccant pack, and foam inserts:
Speakers wrapped in non-woven cloth bags:
My quality control expert checking out the goods:
She says, “It’s missing a tweeter!” (Tweeter was to be installed here since delivery was delayed to factory):
But the binding post plate and posts look great:
As does the beautiful stained wood finish. I added the white desiccant package to get the white balance correct:
QA duties complete, time for a nap:

pictures missing 🙁 I've seen them with the stained birch, I thought it was a very attractive material! a step above mdf
Should be there now. I was uploading full images from iPhone and after the 8th one, website says they are too large. So I had to delete them and resize them and re upload.
Cat's first thought: I can get in there!
Cat's second thought: I'm sure there's food in there!
Cat's third thought: Nope to both, time for a nap!

Maybe it's not translating well in the photos (hard to believe since X took them) but the stained birch just looks muddy to me. Of course, birch isn't know for it's standout grain which is one reason why it's painted so often rather than stained. It also tends to blotch which may explain the depth of the stain. Of the combinations I've seen in photos (black with bamboo front, all bamboo, brown stained birch with black front) I gotta say I prefer the all bamboo. That said, I would love to see an all bamboo version with an alcohol-based cherry or mahogany dye (not stain) so the grain still pops. I haven't played with bamboo ply so I'm not sure how evenly it would accept the dye. It's worth bearing in mind though that these are built to a price point that may exclude variety in the finish options.
The camera was having problems w the white balance. But here is a full resolution closeup of the stain.
SB Acoustics SB13PFC25-8 5" and Dayton Audio Reference RST28F-4?
I thought I'll find all info here, as it diy forum. 🤣

Yes, I'd like to build such project, but i don't want to bother anyone. As i understand it's a closed commercial project, so I can't repeat that project.
Build the TL using the XO from the LS3/5A foamcore speaker with RST28F and DC130A. It sounds very close to Galion TL (and some may say, better). This XO is public. You can find the TL plans in sketch format in thread below.
If you used RST28F and DC130A-8 with XO for Foamcore homage to LS3/5A, then it’s essentially the same. I am using slightly different values on resistors of 12.5R at both places.
