As you may have seen by now, there is a new TL speaker that I have been discussing in the other threads. It’s based on a combination of a couple of designs, the Vanguard for the baffle and driver placement and the PMC inspired foam core TL speaker. But modified with a different woofer and a new crossover for a completely new speaker that has a wonderful midrange and top end clarity combined with deep impactful bass. The crossover is my own unique passive Harsch for a quasi-transient perfect step response that gives excellent realism to percussion and strings and piano. Several prototypes are being built. You have seen one with black painted MDF and bamboo baffle.
Now the all bamboo version is being built and it is looking great. Some progress photos.
Predicted F3 is about 48Hz but will depend on final stuffing / tuning and damping pads placement.

Sorry for not being more specific. The bamboo box looks fantastic; I just didn't like the dark grille cloth on it. But it may have been the lighting or the angle. I have light oak speakers with dark cloth that look great but you can't see through the cloth like you can in the picture above.
Plays wonderfully in the bedroom. I heard deep bass that I didn’t know existed on some tracks. Sometime theater style rumble on the intros to some songs. Like Sting’s Thousand Years track.
Fit and finish is first rate.
It almost sounded like I had a subwoofer turned on. The full range of bass appears to be well addressed. The impedance sweep shows the TL tuning with driver and XO is now at 41Hz. Right on low E for a bass.

Some work making a brand new custom crossover for the TL.
In stereo:
It sounds simply amazing. I finished at 3am this morning but had to sit and listen for 2 more hours because it sounded so good it made me want to hear my 50 or so test songs all over again. It has a very nice bass extension. There is a palpable life to the music. Just make you want to tap your feet!
Recorded it with my phone here:
There are some songs that have been blocked in certain countries. So sorry if you can’t hear it.

Recorded it with my phone...
Well, it sounds very good despite the iPhone. With a professional microphone.... when?
- Greetings from Spain -
Thanks, Maty.
I have to send this out to the client for audition. I’ll be assembling another one in black when the crossover components arrive in a few days. I used up my on hand specific crossover parts to make this one.
It’s a superb sounding speaker though. Sounds much bigger than a 5.25in two way should sound.
