Mother Nature is fiction IMHO. Sure, there are cycles but this is all physics.
Physics is in control (nothing on Earth could have saved the dinosaurs because the disaster was caused by an outside force), and it is within our control not to fill the oceans with plastic or the air with carbon. You may not think it makes a difference but it does according to many people smarter than we are 🙂

That said, I do agree on the monetization of certain climate change related thing that are cashing in without necessarily being any better for the planet. Oh course I can't discuss the reasons for that due to the rules 😀

Same goes for fisherman's nets tossed into oceans, beer bottles, plastic bags, etc.
And toxic sewage...man-made chemicals.
And........ all those millions of bits of space junk swirling around the globe....put there by man.
We got near-sighted inventors to thank for that, and the slobs helping things.
That's why I avoid seafood now.
I love shrimp, lobster, clam chowder....but no more.
Yet they tell me not to consume sugar, salt, things grown from the earth, nature's products.
The root, fundamental fixes need addressing first, the earth can repair itself, adapt, but the slobs need to change behavior.

I try to do what I can offsetting my tubes by using LED lighting etc. I walk when I can instead of driving now. I'm embarrassed by how much trash I have in a given day. I can't do much about it or course, but I don't buy bottled water and I try to avoid individually wrapped stuff too. Everything comes in disposable packing these days.
One nice thing in Ontario is they charge a 10 cent deposit on all beer, wine, and liquor containers larger than 50mL. Almost 98% of containers are returned. In Québec, it's even better. Only 5 cents but it applies to all bottles, even a bottle of water. The homeless pick up the trash and get money for it, the environment is cleaner as a result!

We've switched our refuse pickup schedule to once monthly. We have the medium sized can. It amazes me some on the same street have the large can, taken weekly. What the h*** do they buy so much of, that the excess (packaging I assume) fills one of those on a weekly basis!? Or, has the pickup business simply have everyone convinced "you need this", whether practical or not and everyone goes "I assume so..."
It was my wife's idea; I would have just stayed brainwashed "ya gotta have a pickup every week".
Thrifts and yardsales here in the US are great examples of "current society full of disposable crap". Most visits I leave with nothing, but there's fun in the looking.
Remember, if you run those 12V 13A supplies in a very hot case (the heatsink was still too hot to touch 20 minutes after I turned it off), replace the caps by the output.

I find a large problem is the fact nobody has a lot of money. Someone called it boot economics. If I can get a coffee maker for 15$ new but it might only last 3 months, it might still be cheaper to just keep buying them OR it might be all someone can afford.

It is soooooo annoying and sooooo stupid, and obviously aimed at mindless imbeciles. How does that make anyone buy their crap? It makes me want to drill my ears out. It's an insult to the intended audience.

I just repaired some windows and the rest are only 6 years old. I just had my screen doors repsrayed and new screens put in. They look new! Yesterday at home, I was busy doing chores, and the phone must have rang a dozen differernt time - all but one call to me was those robo solicitation calls.
I don't talk to robots, sorry.
4 or 5 calls asking to buy my home or if I'm interested in selling it...... nope, it'll be my tomb when I croak.
Then in my mailbox, several "let us buy your home" postcards - they go right to my paper shredder!
Several fake "electric utility" calls trying to get my billing information...
I'm certainly not a mindless gullible imbecile to fall for those things.
And no, I don't do those "survey" calls either, OR those police/fireman/veteran "donation" calls either.
They're all scams.

I get ALL the frikkin robo-calls... drives me crazy. Almost all of them are 100% scam, like the IRS scam calls that I get about 20 times a day around tax time... "You will be arrested in half an hour sir if you don't go to Walgreens and buy $5000 worth of gift cards" Sure buddy.
Police /veteran/etc "donation" calls are ALL 100% SCAMS. Not a penny will go to any veteran or policeman.

Real people call my cell phone. Spammers and scammers call my land line. Anything important to me (like my prescription reminders) are pre recorded and I can just listen to them on the machine. EVERY time I've answered my land line I've been sorry.

My experience with sales people is that they don't even listen to you. They already know what they want to sell you.They don't even care if you want it or need it.
It must be a generational thing. I come from the "Customer is Always Right" generation. My last couple major "brick and mortar" purchases (or attempted purchases) were rude awakenings into the new society. The salesman who was showing me furniture was such a smarmy douchebag! I left in frustration but found what I wanted at TJMaxx or some overstock store anyway.
