The House of Lords Commission that was instituted to establish the effects declassification had in the UK came to the opposite conclusion.
A lot of people started using or increased consumption during that time and the more the nation smoked weed the fewer the cases were of hospitalisation due to psychotic episodes.
Similarly the governments own commission on drugs in general led by Professor Nutt who eventually lost his job because his conclusions were not what the politicians wanted to hear.

I 'm wonder how one can measure the increasing cunsumption of weed and conclude on a period there is less psychiatric emmergencies ! Do they provide the weeds then measured ? But why not, find that interesting !

Ah, the official mistress 😛 ! The life is always better when we are involved in it and efforts pay ! on a modest side sometimes but simple pleasure are very tasty when you take the time to taste it !
Btw, prefered weed music album : Dark Side of the moon :always thinked weed on this album totaly distorted the time experience... it's a deep voyage with this couple !

Its refreshing to hear that quite a few people here still appreciate progressive rock, it so often receives unjustified scorn by the general populace, perhaps with the exception of Pink Floyd, who have managed to achieve popular success without apparently compromising their integrity.
I'm sure there are a lot more prog acts out there that I'm yet to here; I mainly know of the biggies like PF, Yes, King Crimson, Some of the more sophisticated stuff by Rush from the 70s. I like Tangerine Dream too, though I'm not sure if they are strictly progressive rock, but they were definitely progressive at the time as were Kraftwerk, Klaus Schultz and Brian Eno, within the Electronic genre.

Grew up with prog rock, first LP I bought was Fragile, Yes when I was about 12.

It was on the news back then when the House of Lords committee published its findings or may be on Newsnight. I didn't bother archiving it for myself so I will have to leave to you to trawl through all that political stuff (the HoL is a political body after all).
I have no idea if the HoL has a website where they give access to their commission findings.
At the same time a good friend of mine worked as a manager in a home which was the first port of call for people with acute psychological problems and for some reason the people doing the assessment of the patients were very keen on diagnosing the problems as 'drug-induced psychosis' the moment the patient mentioned having used cannabis at some point in their lives. Completely disregarding practically any other aspect.
One guy used weed successfully to control his extreme OCD and the problems only arose when he stopped the cannabis. Another had lost his entire family in a house fire a couple of years earlier and smoked as part of his coping mechanism but each time the official diagnosis was drug-induced psychosis due to use of cannabis.
Apparently that went on in a number of homes like this as other managers voiced similar concerns.
Now I'm not one for conspiracy theories but I think the doctors who did the assessments just wanted an easier life over-worked as they were and this diagnosis knocked a few hours or days off the process and eases their excessive work load but it does eventually lead to false official statistics.
Similarly for many years scientist said that smoking cannabis increases the risk of contracting lung cancer extrapolated from the fact that cannabis contains a lot more tar than tobacco. Now that large scale studies have been done contradicting this you don't hear that one quite as often anymore.

Agreed, I use to be more active regarding this sort of stuff and had videos etc. going back to Reefer Madness, but as I have got older I have become more cynical and trying to tie up truth, facts and reality regarding weed and the law is a waste of time, anything that goes against the Government view is supressed or ridiculed, so the solution....

It's usually associated with that...Psychedelic Rock...I don't know. It's not limited to that though. I of course like various forms/styles of Metal too.
