I know that's how it's suppose to be..but sharing/telling all those Personal things..You realize how difficult/powerful/conjuring back all those memories/flashback's/reliving numerous experiences etc...it's so hard/hurts/so much pain etc, I can't hardly do it. Discussing anything like that, remotely in a therapy situation..oh my God I can't handle it mentally..I have always had this closed off/withdrawn mind in a way.

Group therapy is probably best undertaken during periods of relative recovery, probably not going to work out during acute phases, of course there are always lots of opinions. Probably as much subjectivity in Psychiatry/psychology as there's in what constitutes high end audio! 🙂

The only true road to happiness is become a hard core esoteric audiophile, then you will have to spend all your time tweaking your system because it will grate your senses as the music screeches out of your speakers, you can then spend many a happy hour discussing the minutiae of audio reproduction, the sound of caps, cables resistors and PCB solder resist colour. You will be able to drool enviously at the $100,000 dollar systems knowing that, as some Guru's will tell you, you cannot even experience audio nirvana on cheep systems and if you cant hear a difference your system and probably your hearing in flawed.
Me I just roll a fat one, open a can and turn the volume up to 11😀

Music is the food of the soul, for some folks its art or poetry or literature, for me its definitely music. At the risk of inviting condemnation, I think the choice of music is a much better predictor for the quality of ones experience as opposed to the choice of audio hardware. A good piece (song and/or music) has merit in any medium. Quality equipment augments the experience, but is not, at least for me, the only determining aspect for the quality of the listening experience.

Gordon.

Music definitely, you can have that outlet with it, really manipulate/get your/whatever damn emotion's/thought's/chatter out of your Mind into something real/tangible/physical etc. or listening experience- detach/go somewhere else. Appeals to My Mind so Much. If I want to relax, I can relax with something appropriate, If I feel tense/restless/upset/or whatever can also get into something appropriate. As unstable as that sounds it keeps me sane and somewhat Stable somehow..

All too True, I can appreciate the up times very much, but still feels mostly being in those down times for now.

I have 6 kids now, a million grand kids, I work and just keep up with all the bills etc.... so life like so many is 90% drudgery 10% excitement fun etc, that 10% and the loving faces of my grasping family as they suck the contents of my wallet dry is what keeps me going🙂

That excitement/Fun is some of the best you know, where you actually feel alive. Appreciate it even more so. Yet I know most of us are in this/that Drudgery State.

Pretty much the same as professional engineers then.....
I am an engineer too, you know, marce ... 😉

What I am against is arrogance, and an inability to see beyond very tightly held boundaries ... the poor quality research done by "professionals" in the audio field leaves me shaking my head at times, massive holes in the setup and procedures, which means any sort of conclusions reached are of very little real value; other fields where the parameters are far better understood, and the consequences of flaky thinking are severe - bridges collapsing, and planes falling out of the sky tend to attract a bit of attention - don't have these problems ...

People "prescribe" "mellow" happy music readily. However, in my brain, fighting fire with fire is much more effective. In dark states of mind, I need dark music, perhaps a catharsis. My brain grinds on light, happy music in those times. Good way to see just how dark I can go mentally, bring on the Carpenters, or that ilke, and I'll run screaming. Give me a good dose of Univers Zero, Magma, Art Zoyd, and even carefully chosen and sparingly administered Swans or Nick Cave, and while not necessarily good to go, I'll be heading in the right direction.

They would pinch the interesting contents..... and just leave some baccy😀
In our households we work on a sharing system, everything I own, possess or have in the bank is sharable between the wife, the kids, the cats and the dog (in that order)... everything they own is not!
