Waveguides and horns

Iwata 300 horns

Hi, I'm new to the forum, and have been wanting to build my own horns, the pricing would seem to make this a better option. I was going to use one of the hornresp softwares to match driver/horn-have not even started as I'm still learning. So, I don't think the iwata shape is even in that type of software, is it? I pretty much know I'd like a 2" compression driver, and want to start at a lower frequency if possible. What drivers are you 2" opening folks thinking of using? I presume the horn shape is ok with any 2" CD?
I presume the idea here is for us to add our info to the group buy list and upload it till it's got everyone? Do we get them shipped to each of us or is it cheaper to go to one US location? Are these painted?

How does the back side look of these horns, is it rough glasfiber, or do they have just as nice a surface as the front side? I guess not...

Do I understand the OSWG 12" is made for baffel mounting, or else it would have needed the bigger round flares? Do you know the shipping for two to Denmark?

Backside of JMLC and Iwata horns

Backside is rough. It is designed to be flushed into baffle/box so backside doesn't matter.
I suspect that the JMLC horns also have this rough backside finish even if it's recommended to not mount them in a baffle. Am I right? How rough is it? Can you post some pictures?
Probably the same applies to Iwata horns or anybody has an idea how to mount them in a baffle
Another one, I understand that there is some choice of colours and black is one of them, right?
Chris

JMLC and Iwata are standalone horns, baffle mount isn't recommended. Colors: white, green, blue, yellow, black. RAL or metallic for a large orders.

The beauty and high quality of this WIKI group buy can help move horns out of the "man cave" and into the living room.

From what I have read, an 18" OS_WG is the ideal size for a 15" woofer with 750Hz Xover. A 12" OS_WG can be used with 12" woofer crossed at 1,100Hz The best OS_WG designs include heavily rounded diffraction reduction cabinets. The JMLC horns with the full round-over are usually used naked.

Hi,

At the beginning of this thread I mentioned that I would be willing to forward on horns once they´ve arrived in the states. I live in CT and would be willing to drive a reasonable amount to help get these to people in addition to packing and forwarding horns to their new homes.

any updates....15" OSWG with 1.4" is fine...Im ready to buy 😀

I have been playing with fibreglass and doing some molds, etc. If I only could build a good OSWG mold. I would be set to do a carbon fibre waveguide.

Any chances in buying just a mold ???
