Almost there. Finally got around to installing a new SMPS (pictured is the DPS-400LV) and have it almost completely finished. Made a cosmetic plug for the from panel to cover the volume pot location.

That was just an inexpensive one off eBay. It was a seller named sep_store if I remember correctly.
That is an impressive looking SMPS. Where did you get it. I did a google search but couldn't find them. How does it sound compared to a conventional PSU?

I have a few more connections to make before I get a listen. I expect so long as it is electrically quiet it will sound just like a VSSA 😀.

I have had these running on my test supply before and am very happy with them (and other VSSA as well). Should finish up the electrical plumbing a little later and have a listen soon as it is pictured.
Finally got it all buttoned up and playing on some test speakers before sending it out to my main system. So far very pleased with AP2's SMPS. Nice quiet start-up and dead silent in operation both mechanically and ear-to-speaker (no audible hum or other flotsam) 😀😀😀

I'm going to change tranzistors,input 2SC2240 2SA970 and 2SC3421 2SA1358 for VAS.. It´s because mouser charge 40 EUR for shipping... Output trans is possible to buy in CZ.. Question, should be tranzistors Hfe matched? I mean for VAS and input also? 🙂 Vhat about output? Should be matched too?

Input and VAS transistor should be matched as best you can, but if resources are limited you can comfortably allow a 20% difference. The input pair are the more important of the two for matching. Outputs do not require any matching, you likely can't really match N and P MOSFETs anyway.
OK, thanks for reply.. So, I will try find some closest pairs..I hope, that my replacement trans will not affect resulting sound..

At last I was able to finish the boards. This has been and continue to be a fantastic learning experience for me.
A little cleaning and than testing time..
For testing I bough a 10 Amps 0-140 Volts Powerstat variac.
I also bough the 45 Volts 330RE SMPS.
I need help on the step I should take and any other equipment needed to text the boards.
A few pictures.

We will go into more detail later but do not power the SMPS through the variac. The variac is useful with regular linear supplies but may well be damaging to the SMPS.

That SMPS will most likely power the amp very nicely but it is not good for initial testing. With that you can't use a variac or a light bulb. There is no way to power up with limited current. If something is amiss most likely magic smoke will escape. You might try using 100R resistors in line with the rail leads so they will fail first.

Ok what else should I get and do I install the 100R resistor on the SMPS..
