i am in the same boat. I have heard nothing.
I heard from Pete. There have been some tragedies in the lives of those close to him. Keep him in prayer. I'm sure he will be back soon.
Blessings, Terry

thanks for the clarification.
I will remember him in my prayers
Can we help him?
The best in these times.
The best for you sirs.
Yes, Pete. If there's anything we can do to help. Our thoughts and prayers go out to you, brother.
Pete, Since I am in the same town and have time to spare being retired, If there is anything I can do just let me know.
Sincerely,
Dave

I wanted to give an update on my amp. I had a problem with blowing fuses if I changed inputs while the amp was on. I also noticed a slight hum. I decided to revisit my grounding scheme. I built a ground loop breaker and then installed a star ground bolt and reworked all the ground wires to land there. No more issues now and it is completely hum free. I thought I should share since I was asked about the ground scheme earlier.

Now that both VSSA have had a chance to burn in they are basically identical in sound. Very, very articulate. I'm not sure it that is best for all recordings since it is so revealing, but string bass is stunning and acoustic guitar is in the room with you. Lovely amp, for sure.
Congratulations Terry!
Exactly the strings of the bass are very well revealed to my ears by both VSSA and XVSSA (details almost unknown to me before). Also electric guitar riffs are extremely well reproduced, and here is where I found the parallel film cap over feedback electrolytic proved crucial in XVSSA. Acoustic guitar passages are also a delight.
Enjoy your new builds!

Thanks for the photos, Terry. Just to make sure I understand the grounding, the bolt next to the ground loop bridge is isolated from the chassis, correct? Thanks.
happy new year everyone...
...and thanks to the VSSA forums for a great 2013!
Best wishes to our good friend PMI and his family. Many thoughts, prayers, and hopes for their comfort.

My special wishes for Pete as well, i hope he can pass through whatever is trying his heart in these moments!
Found some interesting devices for input stage (although they are SMD). Ebay search for 180561129613
The device is called BC846BPDW1T1 and includes matched NPN and PNP 65V transistors in the same case.
Will give them a try sometime.
Cheers!

Any boards left or wait for the next GB? I am in no hurry!
The next GB has started: it's The First One, an improved version of the VSSA.
