I decided to go for single turbo 5.2 version, with +- 42V PSU voltage, FQP driver mosfet, one pair of dual die Exicons, 546/556 transistors, taking in account BOM resistor changes.

Sorry if I'm annoying with this usual question, but could we build the amp without the input coupling cap?
I'm building my BOM, and while searching for a good price/performance ratio in higher end caps, I'm realizing that I'll be using this amp solely with my TVC preamp.
So there shouldn't be any DC at the amp's input.
It's not a question of cost (I'm okay spending 200 bucks for a pair of matched foil caps).

Bu the way, I'll be building the original USSA-3, because I'm seeking natural and refined tones more than details.

You can omit the input cap. But like you said, be positive the upstream component does not output any DC

Hi Fab,
I looked back in search of more info about the USSA5.2 powered by +/-42v psu, but didn’t find much more than your initial posts #701 and #702. 20W is the highest THD plot you posted so I assume that is with +/-24v. Did you record THD plots with a 42v psu also?
Maybe the higher voltage USSA5.2 is still a proto version?
Or did I totally miss this information, which is entirely possible

I have never built the single turbo USSA5.2 but I have built the non-turbo full class A v5.2 (+/-24VDC) and also the twin turbo v5.2 (+/-42VDC) as a prototype since no dedicated pcb (2 output pair packages). I will try to find the THD profile of this twin turbo once I get home.

A question about the power supply, or transformer rather. If I have understood correctly we're looking for ~24V for the amp. Now , assuming I have a choice between 18V and 24V transformers, which should I pick? With the SLB I'll probably be a bit under 24V with a 18V trafo, and the 24V trafo will yield a few volts over.

some builders have used the SLB and they should be able to confirm to you the voltage drop since there is an ideal bridge that increases the voltage and a regulator that reduces it…..
there are also 20 and 22 VAC transfo that you can use.
you can also go a little higher than +/- 24VDC with no issue. For example, +/-27VDC still allows you to have enough bias current for selected heatsink….
