It seems to sound nice, but I have tested once or twice with some little Tang band Speakers that I have in a5'' cube, with a sla battery. So I cant really make a good judgement of the amp... Maybe this easter holidays I will try it with my tb w5-1611 that I have at my beach apartment. That looks just like a SMAKN 3116 in design. How does it sound?
I've been tpying with an idea lately.
Replacing my Yamaha Home Theater amp (I'm using only as an amp, because it has multi-channel inputs) with a bunch of TPA3116D2 boards.
Getting a 2x50W for the mains,
one 1x50W for the center,
another 2x50W for surrounds and
2 other 1x100W mono for my stereo subs.
Wondering if that would best the discrete amps in my 12-year-old Yamaha receiver as I don't use any of its functions anymore since moving to a computer based media library with JRiver, and a Presonus 8 outputs audio interface.

I thought xrk is using a bunch of TPA3116 for his multi speakers set up. Or may be he is using them for an active speaker system with a miniDSP. Not too sure. I cannot see why not if all you need is amplification and you have a separate sound processing controller. I recalled someone is trying that.
Regards,
Yes, I use 4 x TPA3116D2's with two 2x4 miniDSP to get a 2x8 channel EQ and XO. Works very well. If 50 watts is all you need. Keep in mind that 100w in PBTL only possible with 2ohm drivers - maybe a DVC wired in parallel.
Hi,
I am quite new to all this audio and electronics stuff but I am almost finished with my first amp based on the blue board driving my Vifa Carat speakers and already I am thinking about doing another project.
What I want to do is combine the blueboard with a 6n3 preamp in the same housing. But I am not sure what the best solution is to get both running on one power supply. Currently I am using a laptop charger, but the 6n3 "kit" includes a transformer with a lot of wires one pair being 170 vcd. Is there a way to use these and bring it down to 20 volts for the 3116 or is this done differenly al together.

be careful, this amp make some noise, which depend on pot. values...it´s unusable...
Did you try plugging it into a wall socket somewhere else in the house?
Could it be ground loop?
Looks like you are in a workshop. If you have a bunch of electric power tools, etc.. plugged in, it may interfere and cause the noise.
Or, you got a bad board. Happens once a while.
This is no ground loop hum...this is like digital hum... I tried few digital and analog PSU... is special, that hum depend on pot values (is not maximum value).. I´ll try make some measurement...
If this is a 2.1 board, there may be an issue with a bad spec on the clock sync between master and slave. As a result the sub slave is free running with no distinct clock pulse. Check resistor and cap values between pins 16 on master and slave.
Also check to see if you have bad connection with bootstrap caps. Sometimes legs get broken or close to broken off due to flex from heavy inductors pushing them in transport.

The transformer converts your wall voltage to 170 and 6.3 volts AC, not DC.
The power supply within the amp will rectify the 170 volts AC to around
230 (?) volts DC...this is the B+ voltage for the tubes.
The 6.3 volts AC is for the tube heaters.
You're better off with a separate power supply for the TPA3116 amp.

so, yesterday i did some measurement, but i was stopped by storm, which interrupted electricity... sine with full volume seems to be good, but in the half is there some kind of modulation... next, when i remove both preamp IO its still there.. sync between chips is OK, there is 10k resistor...

synch isn't ok if it is tried with 10k/1nF, should be 4k7/47pF according to TI september 2013, they just forget to update datasheet for some reason

agree, it is exactely what I've done.
let´s continue, I already changed sync 4k7/47pF, but without impact on output noise...what i observe, that noise is changing, when I touching coils...(there is no bad connection).. so I will order some different.. any suggestions for 2.1 ?
I don't know if touching laquered wire coil should be inaudible? Looking at picture I do get impression that bass amplifier is actually the master amp and the stereo channels are the slave on this board, so getting 400khz operation for stereo instead of 100khz could be an improvement. 32dB gainsetting needs 400mv for full output? The 5532's are only for filtering bass channel?
I don't know which exact schematic they using...there is some no simple problem and I will buy some different module...maybe when I will have more time I will continue with repair...
