With same input wima-caps/input-impedance(gainsetting)(=inputfilter) the sure3110 which has added elco's to dc-input has more impressive bass, yes, but 3110 has twice decoupling/bulk capacitance and different types too. But PinkFloyd and Genesis bass output is easily better, also big drum in symphonic orchestra has much more body, also recording mistake (rumble/low noise, might also be passing train or something like that??) few minutes on a recording is more audible😛

If I combine this power supply below with the above LM338 Converter, it converts the laptop power brick into a linear power supply? Only thing is that it can only 5A instead of the 7.1A the HP power brick is able to do?

Your laptop power supply would be redundant in this case. Yes you could use it with the LM338 if for instance you wanted to have adjustable power <16v (have to factor in about 3v loss to LM338, 19v-3v=16v).
I think using a transformer, say 24v with LM338 instead of laptop SMPS would be better. Hopefully others will chime in on their thoughts.

For the LM338 you need a transformer stronger than the target voltage. There potentiometer through which you determine how much will be volt output.
I had an old transformer so I bought the LM338 so I can try it on other amplifiers. I am happy with the result.

Mounted it in a nice metal case. Quick and dirty.
Used an old laptop smps rated for 19.6v and 5 amps.
Problem, first time i ran it, the signal would cut at any mildly loud passage.
I then added a coule of 4700uf caps in parallel with ones on the board.
Things improved, but it would still cut out.
I things it's the smps's hard current limiter, but as i write this, i'm thinking this can't be right because even after i turn off thenpower to smps, the amp keeps running for 5 to 6 seconds.
Any idea about what might be happening?
Noting that the inductors and the chip run cool.

Sounds like it is tripping thermal shutdown or a cold solder joint on one of the main speaker out leads. Check solder joints on output pins. What is impedance of speakers? Low 2 ohm loads may do this - probably not your PS.
It's silly but are you sure that there are no short circuit between the downside of the board and the metallic box?
Have you checked the solder joint of the board, especially those on the potentiometer?

Good deal ... but the high freq power-supply SM caps are too far away from the chip and the output caps aren't as close as the "wiener" from a few pages back.
Ya let me know where and how you will buy it from Taobao. I want the 3116 version but have no clue how to read mandarin/Cantonese to navigate the website. Someone mentioned a middle man, but still dont know who.
