Getting ready to weather a hurricane here. Tampa Bay Fl
Will be getting the first rain bands in about an hour.

We have snow-bird friends who just got their house in Sanibel into a livable state!

Sanibel and area got hammered last year. Seems I live in a sheltered area. last hurricane (Irma) went to the east of and the last direct hit was back in 69ish. EYE hit approx 20 miles of me

Ya, the rain we were promised has not materialized. Meanwhile Florida is about to get whacked. Prayers to the people. mike567, hope you are able to prepare.

Today was hot at 89 degrees.

@cal - that's a sad picture of Bermuda getting socked as well as FLA -- we used to take our boys there and stay in some cottages with a beach and par 3 golf course. Used to go in August (just before hurricane season). Much nicer and stately than the Jersey Shore (RHONJ), easier to get to than the Shore too!

For instance, I got out of the shower at 12 Noon Saturday (Midday) today and found the night lights on. Whatever was going on? Was I going blind or was it a dark Thunderstorm.

Naturally, I disconnected all electrical devices and ventured, NOT, outside with a metal lightning conducting Umbrella. We know this game.

Hopefully the sustained drought hasn’t rendered the ground sufficiently hydrophobic to cause widespread land and mudslides such as already seen elsewhere.

That little bit yesterday could go a long way to helping with the big rains coming this weekend. Fingers crossed. Goodness knows there's just too much bad news out there that a little good can go a long way.
