The Singing Bush Tips 'n' Tricks

Almost there, need to finish ground on SIT. PSU voltage is descending after I shut power off, so disregard the value. Look at these photos carefully!

Choky,

As luck would have it, it looks like the 5k (no end-click in either direction) pot at P2 on the gain pcb is bad. Across R10 I have an unchanging 2.5KR, whereas on the on the other channel I can raise and lower across R10 easily. No way to set max neg. on Gate.

The drain of the SIT is the the SIT case?

but of course, I'm not checking their rotation

just for the record - some multiturn trimpots are giving audible click on both ends, some at just one, some not at all

in all these years I never found consistency in that ......... every time I had some quantity of same (whatever brand), just when I was thinking I gotchya, these all are behaving the same, 31st or 51st prove me silly

so, trust in DMM, ignore ears, in case like this

Choky,

I'm sure that when it left Ancient Basch Empire it was working. I use Wiley Coyote heat when I solder. I pulled it and it was shunted, so, I probably did that with massive heat. I do have a 10k on hand.....

Going forward you can call me shunty, or flame 😛

it seems аll soldering Irons at your side of Big Splash are having just two settings:

  • measly (everything squishy melted even if not soldered)
  • Papatemp (damn hot, you really need to know what you're doing)

now you know why my forehead is sweated on this pic:

....... bummer, I can't find that pic, Mighty ZM Omnisoldering at Pa's bench; he did promise!!!! separate Workshop for next ZM visit

I did Boeing work on my layout, really tight and almost didn’t work. I wouldn’t recommend a single chassis as I did. I’ve built a lot of amps and this was a challenge for sure to make it all fit.

Choky,

I'll see if I can post a video on YT of it making sweet music. First channel is cooking on bench, and I mean cooking. Voltage across drain and source has dropped to 450mv.....so I need to see-saw Iq again, but of course, that is still fine.
