All good, working on second channel however, I do have some trafo noise making it to the Mu board when I lift the heatsink on to the baseplate, putting the Mu board close to the taco. I do have the primaries paralleled. No noise in the audio until I move it close to the trafo. The trafo is silent until it’s under load.

So, the channel is dead silent until it gets close, so maybe I will have to move the Mu board over a bit.
 
Definitely try rotating the power transformer. Those Anteks leak where the leads exit the transformer. Try it with the green and blue leads close to the bottom of the chassis.

Perhaps try moving the power supply chokes to the middle of the chassis too.

There is a lot of space between the two power transformers. Moving both transformers as close as possible toward the chassis centreline may help too.
 
yeah, only few things you can do with hum/buzz problems, as described

1.moving things around, maybe slight rotation of Donut first thing to try?

2. what's arrangement of your CLC PSU is, I mean value of 1st and 2nd cap in CLC?
44kuf-choke-44kuf. The supply is fine and I moved the donuts more towards the center which helped. I also am going to try some faraday tape this morning. Now, when I say trafo noise, it's very low. So low that most people wouldn't even bother with all of this. But, with the amp open-faced-sandwich-style it's completely silent.

I can't wait to hear the amp on my tube dacs. I can tell in the shop that it's going to be great! Very, very good sounding design. 😛

I already tried moving / rotating. the chokes and it made no different. It's just like you said, a lot of leaking where the secondaries come out, I'm going to wrap those with the faraday tape first as I've not much length to rotate, but yes, that's a good idea.

I mean, worse case is that I order another chassis......Gianluca will love that 😎
 
^ It may require relocating the upper / mu / puck boards a bit toward center (it looks like the toroid is close to C3), but...

If the Faraday tape doesn't work out as well as you'd hoped, the new(ish) vertical mounts from Antek work well with their new(ish) much less expensive larger cans for the 300+VA toroids. The larger / thicker cans work exceptionally well, but they also take up a lot more space, and they are comparatively much more expensive.

these puny 40mm modushop heatsinks can hardly take such a big class a amps when used correctly. Mounting them above each other is worst though.

No, they are on separate sinks. I’m not following you at all on any of your statements.

The heatsink is joined by a bracket, the IXYS hyper is on one, the Tokin on the other.

As far as dissipations goes, this deep 5U will be fine. Not my first rodeo as we yanks say.

Well, I will say that the HS temps are better than some of my other builds, which have run for years screaming hot without issue here in Arizona.


My next project will be a lipo powered SIT, the neg. rail being generated using the positive lipo output. I’ve been running lipo powered class-A for a while and I love it. So, the SIT should benefit from the supply being free from the grid mains. All thanks to member Schultze for coming up with the design.
 
I moved the Mu boards 1” and silence. The Faraday tape was supposed to be here today and was delayed so I got impatient.

I’ve never had an inductor in a supply ever be a problem.

Between the C-L-C supply, the SIT, the buffer stage, and the design it all sounds pretty amazing. Will do some proper comparisons with a variety of SS and tube amps in the coming weeks.
