The Pass Pub: The High-End Off Topic Thread

I don't want to keep cluttering the discussion of noise in the P3 posts as I have infinitely more questions than answers. I really like Garth Powell's designs at Audioquest, after playing with a lot of it both at work and home my system has his wiring outlet to speakers. Not having much knowledge of EE I base most of my opinions upon what I hear, and in the end that's really all that matters. But...I find the reasons behind why things sound differently interesting, if it enhances my listening. Reading Garth's pdf Power Demystified seems, to an uneducated mind, to be a pretty good explanation of what he is trying to do. I am curious what some of the more educated listeners here think about it?

Happy Holidays To All!!!

Don't know how practical or desirable this would be, but with many of the Forum posts the most important info gets buried in pages of other stuff, yes I am quite guilty of this. It seems like it would be great to have a sub forum that admin. could link noteworthy posts in?

^ The creator of Post #1 of any thread can edit Post #1 as desired for the life of the thread. Many people take advantage of this feature to continually update the very first post of a thread to add / delete what they determine is most relevant and/or link to other content both within and outside the thread.

For entire threads that should be "sticky", yes, you do need to work with an admin / moderator.

I have been swapping capacitors in a 'Slider' pre-amp and listening to the results using the least appropriate cd rip on the drive: The No.1 Opera Album 2004, in particular the duet from The Pearl Fishers. Without question, the most significant enhancenment was produced by a very large glass of Sancerre.
Merry Christmas everyone!

Wondering if any of the super smart people here buy into to de-magnetizing a MC cartridge? It sounds a bit like snake oil but I do have respect for Aesthetix pre-amps and they recommend doing it periodically. I guess the real questions are;
a. Is it potentially beneficial
b. Does it do any harm
