True, you'd have to bend and shave some other thighs with an extension socky.
For a tight fit you'd have to think of something like this or triton-audio beauts, different price level though=>

Damn... I knew the german post office isn't fast (since they got privatized)...but hearing about "delivery in the evening" does make me really jealous...

Don't be jealous vrun. We doesn't have any evening deliveries in sweden either. 🙂
I just fetched it from the postoffice after work before they closed 6 PM. So I actually got in inthe evening 😉

Today I have worked hard and put one amp together .... almost. I havent done my research and gathering very well for this project, due to other ones.
I have to look trough my storage of transformers and see if I can come up with something. I also miss the MPSA92. I think I have some BF421 ... somewhere :clown:

I don't have mine yet. They are probably playing "monkey in the middle" with the package over at the Canada border services agency. 😱
Have a habit of holding onto stuff there and opening and investigating packages from know dissidents. Glen, have you been a good boy? :clown:

I have all of the other parts though and have a loose idea of how I want this amp to look - you know the artistic presentation.

Please tell.

As for me, i'm using the same Rusky 12AX7 as Vrun.
Due to the different pinning, the sockets are going to be standing above the board on the ceramic legs i posted a piccy of.
(and me also has 6 tube covers in fashionable Red, i'm thinking of mounting the boards vertically and skip the L-brackets)

Hey Jacco ...
You are quite funny 😀

I like your humour. Today is a special "spring evening" in sweden where you light a big fire outside the house and sing (praise) the spring that is arriving ... That sounded weared ...I know 🙄 😉

Anyway, I'm drinking wine today and have an "of day" tomorrow, and also at friday, so maybe I can come up with a sollution to my lack of components for this project.. and some measuring... eventually 🙂 .

To the best of my knowledge. :innocent:
Customs should not be a problem as I supplied photo ID and had content declaration forms attached to each international envelope to keep Customs happy.

Cheers,
Glen

Guys, DON'T buy 9 pin valve sockets that are intended for PCB mounting.

As explained in post 129, with a clear picture of the mounting provided in post 130, the PCB is designed to take a standard CHASSIS MOUNTING socket with a few simple modifications.

Virtually all (new or NOS) chassis mount B9A sockets have solder lugs on a pin diameter in line with that of the valve. They will fit the board without a problem.

...got a phone call from home...
AU mail "with lotsa stickers" arrived. 😀 yeah

...I decided to wait for the boards before I further tackle the socket situation :cannotbe:

Meanwhile I bought (on impulse) a Fischer KRG 04 ME
An externally hosted image should be here but it was not working when we last tested it.

...which (with my luck in this) most likely will not be wide enough - but it _does_ look nice. 😀 🙄
...guess I'll pass on Jacco's fancy tube covers as of now - "fugly" ? :clown:

Guess I'll come in late(er)
Thanks a lot Glen

I just gave the dimensions of the shells, the top/bottom panels have a 3mm thickness.

These boxes can be found just about anywhere overhere, in various sizes and types.
The stuff was used as housings for tv/telephone gear and things like computer modums, used to see a lot of them at trade shows.
Given the height and construction, i normally wouldn't dream of buying this kind of cases, i'm usually major chassis league.
Got them yesterday at a dump store on the way to a mother's (in law) day visit, barf.
i'll check if there's an online junk store that has them, you could check the familiar places on your end, i'm sure you can find these boxes in your turf as well.

edit: brain fart, the manufacturer of these cases was Feltron-Zeissler, somewhere near Köln.
A case like this one did something like 80DM in the late 80s, the '90s all aluminium models are a bit different.

Very nice! I hope it will be big enough (need to have an internal width of 30cm to accept two boards mounted on opposite sides). :xfingers:

If it isn't big enough for both channels you can always buy another and build a pair of mono-blocks 😀

Cheers,
Glen
