Hitachi SB655A/2SD675A, 22MHz-100W TO3s, can be found in some Technics components.
Regular B653/B654/B655/D673/D674/D675 can still be sourced new, sometimes for $1.5. But they has lower Ft, Bwana.
Same goes for 14MHz NEC 2SB600/2SD555 TO3s, favored by both Mr Bongiorno and Madrigal ML untill the duo went obsolete, used in several Technics receivers.
For some reason Technics always fancied using exotic stuff, especially NEC candy.

Speaking of candy, apparently Toshiba initially bought the RET technology from Fujitsu, later released their own 2SA1095/2SC2565 ringemitter development to compete with Sankens LAPT devices.

Actually, no joke, he means that the amplification factor of 70 isn't in par with the suggested ECC83, which have the rate 100u.
Maybe you allready noticed the difference in the datasheets ?

Where to find tubecockets that fit ? I have two types bought from Tubetown i Germany and one old NOS type but none of them fits the PCB. My sockets are to large. They have to large diameter on the pins circle.

Did you buy B9A sockets intended for PCB mounting? These usually have a pin circle diameter a fair bit larger than that of the valve.

I designed the board for standard chassis mount sockets with wire twist solder lugs, not the PCB mount types.
The board also isn't designed to accept the solder lugs of the socket, you have to solder tinned cu wire extensions onto the lugs, as I showed in post 130:

I'm sure no one will fit of the ones you have on picture.
The pin diameter is just 14 mm on the PCB card. The pin circle diameter on the tube itself is 12 mm, so an extension socket as jacco mentioned won't fit either.

Yes Glen, I probably have one B9A type socket intended for PCB mounting. It measures 20mm pin circle diameter. The other types is for PCB as well but they all look different and the pin circle on the smallest one i have, the one vrun refer to on the first picture, is 18mm diameter.

OK, I do my own fix so I can use the sockets I have. Problem and case solved as far as I am concerned 🙂
