Mayo with the frites?
Certainly not ketchup 😛
But personally, it'd rather be pickles (yellow vinegar based sauce with turmeric, mustard and crunchy vegetable chunks) or andalouse (mayonnaise with tomato paste and peppers) if the fries are served with nothing else and no sauce at all if the fries accompany a dish. The best places serving fries might also have some "carbonnade flamande" sauce (meat stewing in brown beer, all day long) which can be a good alternative. Choices, choices...

Amai, looking at those colors, you sure that guy isn't Cajun.
FDA put out an advisory on Friday that the spice "cumin" contained the same protein allergen as peanuts.
Cardamom+coriander+cinnamon+cloves and some onion. Add some butter or oil then lentils+ water and in 30-45 minutes ...(yes, you need a saucepan and some fire under...)
Try a little asafoetida in that.
In India they would boil the lentils, then when they are done fry the spices and onions, then add the fried "tadka" to the cooked lentils (to "temper" the lentils, whatever that means).

Fascinating. I wonder how many people who avoid nuts regularly eat cumin, which is widely used in vegetarian and vegan cooking.

(adding some character ?

Note to self: Do not have a drink, a laugh, and use the cleaver all at the same time.

Do not wok, handle a Chinese cleaver, and be online at a web chat box simultaneously at 3AM.
(but if you do, make sure the tip of your finger ends up on a meticulously cleaned cutting board)
Still have all your fingers??? 😕
Most of them. Still, nothing like what happened to Jack.
What did happen to Jack? That's nasty.
Gift of the Vikings to the Irish (congenitally) -- for those afflicted, over the years collagen in the palm thickens and causes the tendon to pull your ring finger closed -- in its early stages it can sometimes be fixed with injections of Xiaflex but mine progressed very rapidly and required surgery. Looks like they put a zipper in the palm. It looks worse than it feels, however!

My father had to have 8 fingers done. Don't worry he lived to bowl again. 🙂

Makes mine look like a scratch. Glad to know it's not too painful.
