Do you have a mute board, if not I can probably let you have one leftover from an earlier nodac project. It's the board on the left below;
PM me if you want one.

Pop will always be there.... ...
Thanks, that's a shame, I can't live with that.
Can we use this xmos board for this purpose:

hi
I've been following this post since the beginning, I have this XMOS circuit.
yesterday i try again to build simple LPF, but this time i add isolator and battery PS. the sound is VG.
the pop sound is very high!! i connected the mute leg to the ISO EN leg and its help but when i change format i have pops.
still have hiss noise, want to add 74hc74, do you think the flipflop Could lower the hiss noise?

No. Try increasing the cutoff the LPF for example if you use 48kHz try 52kHz. If possible use linear PSU in place of SMPS.
Why increase the frequency cutoff could lower the noise? That does not sound right.
i have linear PSU, but the XMOS USB is power by the PC, change it to self power?
thanks

Sorry your are right, lower the cutoff frecuency. Yes avoid all SMPS and use linear PSU for all if possible incluidng the PC.
USB + I2S isolator powered with two different linear PSU or batteries. In your case for balanced you will need a 3rd linear PSU or battery for the flip-flop chip.
thanks merlin el mago
my cutoff frecuency is~18Khz, its too low with first order 20nf,1kohm.
now its work with no flipflop, only ISO7640. i use iriver 4*DSD.
Something managed to solve the problem with the pop (bomb) when change between DSD file to PCM file?

It's very strange that you hear hiss with your low cutoff frecuency, first I will take off the SMPS, let me know? I use the mute or low the volume of your preamp to min.

ok last night I do some test:
what I increase from 1*DSD to 4*DSD the noise Floor increases by 5db.
I replace the pc PS to batt and the noise from down from 50db SNR to 60db.
still here hiss noise, but low.
try to figure what is the problem source

Update to my previous post on using the BBB/NAA. I updated the clock using the laptech (TWTMC). Have not done any serious listening but its sounds pretty good for the short test i did...

...its much to read...and its an amazing idea
Hi
I am interested in build up a converter as you discribed,
PC - USB - "Best DAC is no DAC" - Preamp (XLR) -LS
i go throug a lot of pages put is it possible to get a summary of all latest parts and /or i kind of material of quantity (MoQ)
