another really nice build for a client, this is our Master Artist Tower with powered bass module. Drivers used are dynaudio esotec drivers for t/m/w and a custom dynaudio 9" subwoofer. Crossoevers are designed using mundorf, clarity and goertz. Internal wiring is Kimber. Wrapped in a high grade black vinyl with bubinga inserts

Wouldn’t they work better with much closer spacing in the MTM?

its a 3 way top, the top is crossed as a mid and the bottom is a woofer. the mid is playing from about 250hz to 3500hz, the woofer is 250hz down to about 65hz

He meant the center to center distance of the midrange units should be shorter.
How much space does the tweeter occupy from inside? (ceramic magnet?)

mid to tweeter is about 5" center to center
The measurement needs to be taken fron centre of one mid to centre of the other.
Any distance over a quarter wavelength at the XO frequency is a compromise, you want to get as close as possible. How much “empty” space is between a mid and the tweeter.

Then what is the thing sitting on top of the bass bins? Even if the MTM arrangement is a 2.5 way system, the spacing is still questionable.

Thta implies an MTM on top with an XO of 3.5kHz. Even with a closely spaced MTM, that is a highish XO making the large separation even more of an issue..

The finish and appearance look great imo, with top notch parts, but my first thought was that the top three drivers are spaced too far apart, regardless of MTM or otherwise. If this poses a problem in real life (as in listening to music) I can't say, it may depend of the steepness (order) of the applied filtering. I guess measurements will tell something about how the speaker behaves in the crossover region, where multiple drivers emit the same frequencies.

Exactly.
Porche, one of the midranges has a lowpass on it and does not reach the tweeter?
dave
if u say so, they sound really nice so far an i guess alot of big name speaker makers have gotten it wrong as well

I am not saying so, just asking for more information, which has not been forthcoming.
It is still not clear whether the top is an MTM or a 2.5way module.
