Sure, if you like attenuated everything except bass. Obviously if you attenuate everything except bass the bass will sound relatively more. You might as well EQ up the bass or EQ down everything else. But hey it's your system and your ears.

This is certainly the kind of thing that makes audiophiles look crazy. We eschew EQ but we mod our systems with different parts and expensive interconnects and what not to basically serve as EQ. Might as well throw in the towel and just put an EQ in there.

I have to agree with you on this one. The ultimate point is to like what we are listening to and everyone has different opinions to what sounds good for them. So for me, I'm looking to buy inexpensive, but good to excellent performing equipment and then purchase a very good EQ to help me get the "sound" I want from my equipment. I don't like messing around with all the different electronics to get a certain sound when I can just as easily alter the EQ.

There are many different paths to anyone's ultimate "sound" and it's the reason I like this hobby so much. 😀
 
Two boards one potentiometer question

I have two Sure Electronic Tripath TA2024 amps that I would like to use in a 4 channel amp configuration. I like would to use one potentiometer. I have wired a Panasonic EVJ-Y91F03B54 to single Sure Electronic Tripath TA2024 amps. Would I need to consider anything different if I wired two amps?

Received my Sure Electronic Tripath TA2024 board about one week ago. Have been listening to it unmodified since. Over the last several days been buying the parts for the suggested modifications. Hooked up one last time before modding for a "before" listening and channel 2 speaker wasn't working. Checked the outputs with a dc voltmeter and read 0 volts on the OUT2 - terminal and 11.78 volts on the OUT2 + terminal. (OUT1- and OUT1+ are very closed to 5.9 volts each). Measured back per the schematic in post 113 and OUT2M2 pin 27 (top of zener D4) on the IC reads 0.0 volts and OUT2P2 pin 24 (top of zener D5) reads 11.78 volts. The corresponding OUT1 pins on the IC are very close to each other at about 6 volts. Can anyone tell me whats going on? Is this CH2 somehow fried without any work on it? The outputs were not shorted when I connected it.

Not sure whether this is related. I just received my Sure TA2024 board (Ver1.2 production date: 2009-04-05) and have noticed that the value of R2 and R18 are "224" instead of "203". Can someone confirm the value of R2 and R18 in older board. Thanks.

R1 and R15 are still "203", see attached Photo

Something is certainly not right there unless of course they have changed the board layout.
You need to check the DC on the output before hitching it up to any speakers

Better still just remove the resistors all together.
The circuit is far better when used with a trimpot as discussed earlier in the thread
 
Hello all...

I am interested in this amp as I have just acquired a pair of 12" Stephens Trusonic full range speakers(approx. 95db efficiency) and I think it would work quite well on my "cheap bastard" budget. My only question is the Stephens are 16 ohm speakers and the listing for the board states that is is suitable for 4 and 8 ohm speakers. Would it work ok for a 16 ohm load?

Wait , I lied. I have one more question. I have a couple of 12v power supplies that actually put out 13.8 v regulated, would this be ok for this amp?
 
I had a bad experience with the amp10 a few months ago and was singularly unimpressed
with the support system at 41hz, other than that I am fairly sure those are excellent
sounding amps(once they are actually running). I have built several tube amps and preamps(so I'm not a complete newb) but the documentation and instructions on that amp10 were less than stellar. Still, I might try one of the little models...🙂
