PSU5 and PSU10 can be upgrade to cut off rail voltage if there is DC offset or overcurrent on amp out...
Interesting but the goal will be to avoid the relay contact in signal path.😉PSU5 and PSU10 can be upgrade to cut off rail voltage if there is DC offset or overcurrent on amp out...

There is no relay contact on amp out, transistors for regulated psu in PSU5 and PSU10 can switch (cut off) rail voltage without any mehanical contact.

Dear Apex,
Circuit diagram please !

I have sent pcb-lay files of latest SR300 with minor changes to be etched by a friend of mine. I have checked it one more time and it seemed all right. as soon I assemble it I will post results.
I'm preparing to build the SR200 amplifier.
This is a rather lengthy thread and can't find all relevant information.
As far as I understood, these are the specs:
* 200 watts / 8 ohm
* Suggested supply is +/- 65 volts (max = +/- 70 volts)
Question: what is the rated output power at 4 ohms when using a dual 65 volts supply?
Really looking forward to the build.

dual 35Vac gives ~+-50Vdc and that allows ~200W into 4ohms.
dual 40Vac gives ~+-58Vdc and that allows ~160W into 8ohms.
dual 45Vac gives ~+-64Vdc and that allows ~220W into 8ohms.
The only combination driving 4ohms that stays within the 200W limit is with the 35Vac transformer.

several years ago I have create the schematic for Linn's power amp modell "KLOUT" - go to the pdf file No 3-6 (post #51) underDC protect with triac without diac.

maybe interesting ideas for various kind of protecting together with serial voltage regulation.

Hi Mister Apex,
Is the above assumption about power supply rail correct?
And what is the output power at 4 ohms?
Thank you!

The output power at 4 ohms is 320W with +/-70V but I suggest to use +/-60V with 4 ohms load and power will be 240W with proper heatsink.
Regards
240W into 4r0 is ~43.8Vpk.
If using a supply rail that sits at +-60Vdc when quiescent current is flowing then that leaves a margin for PSU sag and losses through the amplifier of 60-43.8V = 16.2Vdrop
In my opinion that indicates a badly built amplifier or using an amplifier for a load that is lower than the rated load.
I would expect a good power amplifier to drop between 5Vlost and 10Vlost from the quiescent supply when delivering maximum power to the rated load
I reported figures for a Leach clone many years ago running on a 40Vac transformer with supply rails sitting at +-58.5Vdc and the maximum output (unclipped) was over 300W into the resistive dummy load.
But the amplifier was not rated for that 4ohms load, at best it was rated for a 6ohms reactive load and I used it on 8ohms speakers only where it achieved >170W into 8r0.

use your calculator.Hi Mister Apex,

P = I*V = I^2*R = V^2*R
P=Ipk*Vpk/2 = Ipk^2*R/2 = Vpk^2/R/2
This last version: P=Vpk^2/R/2, when rearranged gives Vpk=sqrt(P*R*2)
hi friends
i built a 2.1ch system for my com A few months ago:
2*sr100 amplis
psu-10
zobel network
+33/-33 2a traffo
1.2 kva detex smps(Under Construction)
1500w class d ampli from detex(for subwoofer)
and apex vu meter
the sound quality is very good and detailed
i have a problem
when signal source is connected and audio volume is 30% and upper sound is good and not problem but when audio volume is 0% my traffo gets hot after one hour!🙁
why?

respectfully
