Hi Steinz!
Thanks 😊 for your kind honest reply!
I find run in on my cheapie SB Acoustics drivers does reduce the fatigue around 3000 htz generally, probably similar on the FCs… really I haven’t a clue!!!! as I haven’t tried them yet!

The SWR200A was the driver I was planning to buy last year!
I got distracted developing speaker boxes and now I’m wondering if I can go to the SWR 250A for a bit more sound pressure in my room, or try the 250 Field Core drivers. And then wondering what benefits I get?

Every FR bigger than 8" will make problem (physic low) what surprise me with SWR200A there is no any issue regarding whizzer cone, no fatigue. My preference is FR without whizzer cone like SB Satori or MAOP10 (best 5" and 6" driver)
Thanks 😊 Istvan, for the specs and graphs!
Maybe 🤔, someone smarter than me can help me unto interpret what I’m looking at?
It seems to me that the 250a has more bass than the 200a as expected..
I’m guessing that the FC has adjustments on the power supply that change the Qts, which a makes it possible to run is different types of boxes?
I’m guessing that is an over simplification?
I’ve just checked, Hungary 🇭🇺 is on 230volts and Australia is 240volts, so I’m guessing a standard power supply should work?
Thanks in advance, John D

\And to address the “ Translam” comments earlier… Only box 3 ( illustrated previously) was a “ Translam”, all other 8 boxes have featured a different unique construction! ( The first 2 we’re conventional box construction).
In my case , 90% of the plywood I use is from “ offcutts” that would otherwise go into land fil, so it’s actually “ Recycling”!!!
As for time wasting, the “ Translam” box was cut on my companies large CNC router, so it didn’t take much longer than a conventional box.
Only box 3 has curves inside, all my other boxes are rectangular inside..
I made box 2 from 28.5mm F17+ Structural Eucalyptus hardwood, used for floors in Shipping Containers!
Plywood doesn’t come much Harder, Stronger or Denser than this!!,
However, It definitely wasn’t the best sounding box that I’ve made..
Oh, and I’ve made a small profit by selling my speakers, so now it’s time to Invest my earnings into better quality drivers!!!
Food for thought!!

Thanks for the photo!
People say FC drivers get hot 🥵, but I’m guessing that it isn’t such a problem with a large folded pipe with a reasonable port size as there is plenty of air in there and it can “ breathe” a bit? Is that so?

There is such a thing, but here too your assumptions, are correct that it is not such a problem, there is a radiator there. And the power supply is like a current generator and therefore the parameters of the speakers do not change with such heating.
Ok after a couple more days of listening (10+hours in now) to my new Sonido SWR096FC they are really settling in nicely. The minor high fatigue on certain instruments/vocals has faded away. Setting 2 on the power supply sounds the best so far on my system/living area. The bass and transparency is the best I have heard on my system. I find myself almost feeling the stand up bass notes plucked and occasionally flinching when an instrument or vocal jumps out at a higher level and that’s at 60 db’s. These driver’s efficiency seems higher than the spec sheets. My preamp volume setting is much lower than with my Ohm Walsh Tall 2000’s (89db). Very happy with my selection, efforts and results.
Hi Steinz, hi from Ireland. I, to have the Sonido 096 drivers... not the field coil version tho. I got them a few months ago and put them in a Tannoy Berkley cabs I had, as my woodworking skills are not great. I just made a quick and dirty front baffle. They sound great to me... nicely detailed and open sound but they still have got a nice warmth to them. I also have 15" Lii Audio in open baffle that have more clarity for sure... but a leaner presentation.
I would love to know how the field coil compares to the alnico version I have.🤔
Keep us posted on your thoughts as they break in more. Does the power supply volume change the sound (treble bass) or just the sensitivity?
thanks

Hi Benny, The advantage of Field Coil version drivers is that these drivers can be used in a rariety of cinfigurarations (for example : in an OB, in FI boxes, etc...) And with the help of a Power Supply you can change the T/S parameters for the selected design.
Thanks Istvan, I am just curious. Botht the FC and Alnico would sound pretty much the same in this cabinet.
I still have room for improvement in making a new front baffle and tuning the cabinet a bit.
Tks

I have searched your website but cannot find the prices of your drivers. [I live in the UK]. Also, do you supply
direct to clients or through sales agents? Many thanks...I want to make a pair of good 1/4 wave horns for use
in a big room.
@Benny Venom
Cead Mile Failte! Where in the West are you based...I know most of it through fishing and having lived for a while
in the uplands of West Cork [Coolkalure]
