Something to lighten the mood

Cal, your link is access denied.

The LIDL shop were offering a £20 2kW hot air heat blaster thing too, but it was out of stock. Looked effective. Like one of those hot air guns you can get to light coal fires.

But I figured the fan would probably conk out quickly, especially if all my neighbours borrowed it for their patios. What can go wrong with a kettle element? 😀

If the spirit caramel does all the heavy lifting why in heck is there any concern about single malt vs. blended? Why is the credit not given where it's due? Anyone can soak it in properly burnt barrels (the real smoothing factor) for however long they like, but by golly lad, where does the truth in this matter lie?
For the most part, the colour of whisky is determined by the ageing process, as well as the level of char on the barrel it’s aged in.

Simply put, the longer a spirit is aged, the browner it will be.

However, that is not always the case.

Used barrels, for example, often fail to impart much colour, a problem when consumers instinctively equate dark colour with older age and bigger flavour.

Many companies bridge that colour gap by the addition of whisky caramel colouring.

I could be wrong on this, but I suspect my VooDoo man is increasing the fertility of those weeds.

For the most part[/url]
Without a doubt Sir Galu. All of which you speak be the lard struth. The E150 I believe though is more common than we wish to allow ourselves to divulge. I made a grave error by saying it did all the heavy lifting. I would have been wise to suggest it does some of it. We live in a world that still wants to believe that the cask has all the answers and I was hasty in my stand.

I retract any sort of that judgement once you have a whisky that is old enough to buy itself. Safe to say E150 plays little or no role there. I am a common man speaking only of common whisky, the likes of which I am able to provide my family.

I can't justify buying the dear stuff either, although I do have a bottle of Bowmore which has appreciated to around £150.

I'm keeping it for the few people who may turn up for my funeral! 😀

I've noticed that when older folks hear of a death, there first question is always "What did he die of?"

"(say) Diabetes."

"Oh that's ALRIGHT then. I haven't got THAT. Anyway, he had a GOOD INNINGS." 😀

I can't see any problems with not unreeling my cable. Surely the return current cancels out the other one? I did Physics. 😕

Anyway it would be in Gardener's World if it was important. This month we have "The Pruning Guide", "Wheelbarrows On Test". And joy of joys, Part 3/12 of the Idiots Guide to Gardening. "Greenhouses: Where to Start". Can't wait!

I told my neighbour that the Wheelbarrow test didn't look of much interest to me. "And what can go wrong with a wheelbarrow?"

"Oh no, I want to read it after you. I am thinking of buying one!" he replied.
