A small update on the retired racing Greyhounds from the trip to Valdosta, GA last week.
We are fostering one of the boys. He is now ball less. Took him to the vet for teeth cleaning and neutering.
Poor fellow, uprooted from your racing home, travel by van to another state, at home with two crazy Greyhound people and now your manhood has been taken away.
Not so happy in Nashville, Otto, now singing soprano.

AFAIK, Peter Sellers, Portsmouth's finest son, after Arthur Conan Doyle's Sherlock Holmes, based his physical Comedy after Stan Laurel.
The first Pink Panther is so-so. Peter then visited Paris and encountered a French Hotel Concierge who gave him inspiration for all his achingly funny Jokes about "Beums" and all that.
Clearly he was a kid let loose in a sweet shop with beauties like Sophia Loren and Claudia Cardinale.
TBH, the jokes about the Arabs are a bit patronizing. But when you consider he had a Heart Pacemaker from a youngish age, he gave us everything he had. 😎

I saw a 'shooting star' the night before last, it was so clear and fresh out, very bright moon, despite being only 2/3rds.

I can definitely affirm that the atmosphere from my "office" chair looks very different: clearer and cleaner then in all the years I've seen it from the air (even after 9/11).
I woke up this morning to close the windows and blinds at about 4:30, and I could see the star in the night sky at a much lower angle then I've ever seen it from those windows.

Time to put in a plug for the wonderful Gutenberg project ( Gutenberg ).
For those unfamiliar with the project, volunteers find books that are out of copyright (for example, any book over 100 years old), type them up, and put them online, free and unencumbered, for the benefit of the world. You can download them, or read them online. Most books are available in plain ASCII text, Epub, and HTML formats. Many are also available as audiobooks, though I personally have never downloaded an audiobook.
I've been reading a lot of wonderful books from the Gutenberg project recently, including many works by P.G. Wodehouse (who always makes me laugh), Mark Twain, H.G. Wells, and numerous books on inventions and technology from the first Industrial Revolution, as well as many books on early aircraft and aviation.

I believe you. I've known more than one keen recreational distance cyclist who preferred old-fashioned steel frames. They are heavy, yes, but a steel fork has a little give in it, and doesn't beat you up as much as a modern ultra-stiff carbon fibre fork does.
The ultra-stiffness is an unwanted side effect of the mechanical properties of carbon fibre. To make a CF frame strong enough, the CF tubes have to be much larger-diameter than the tubes in a steel frame. Unfortunately, large-diameter tubes are also much stiffer than smaller-diameter ones, so the CF frame and forks end up punishingly stiff.
