What about the protection in my signature ?
It looks a little complicated because a lot of added features but in fact quite simple. It works with a unique double OPA in my personal amp, is universal and can work from out the amp as well. And all analog 🙂
And it is an interesting tool to figure-out what's happens in a perfect amp playing music on real speakers: Not as perfect as expected !
Hi Christophe, I like it a lot. Very high quality development. I'd like to experiment with the FET-based relays.
However, the key feature of my "firmware-driven" approach is great flexibility - ability to adjust parameters, add functions, enhance algorithms, without physically changing anything. Just connecting a cable and updating the firmware.
I appreciate it a lot, working with the hybrids - need longer delays and some more sensor checks, comparing to the all-over-SS designs (plus additional relay channel).
Cheers,
Valery
In Kypton-C Kypton-V and Eyesee, BC550C need to be matched with BC560C and KSA1381 with KSC3503 at VAS?
Os,are you planning to release pcb for this spooky ips?
I have copies of the Spooky IPS available. There has been a running thread in the group buy section >HERE<. I also have some of the other IPS and OPS options available too, send me a PM or request in the linked thread. I hope that was OK, OS...
Hi OS,
Before I jump through a bunch of hoops this morning, I thought I should ask about setting the bias on the IPS. I didn't have a 100R trimpot so I used 200R and set it to 100R to start thinking that would be low bias and I could adjust from there. What would be the best starting point?
Thanks, Terry

Looks to me like lower resistance on R21 will lower output current. What part of your circuit is overheating?
It smoked R27. It could be something else but I thought I should eliminate the bias issue first before I suspected something else.
Thanks
Thanks
Try lifting a leg on R26. If current flow settles down look toward the input side. If it's still high there's problems in Q10 or 11 area. Possibly a bridge from C6 to Q11 collector.
What is this heat dissipation number? An externally hosted image should be here but it was not working when we last tested it.
power up using 1kVA DIY transformer connected to a lamp tester. 😀
primary:
230v
secondaries:

Is this by fischerelektronik?

Sorry, I should have run the spice file before I asked. Higher resistance = lower bias. So, that is not the issue. There is probably a short somewhere that I just haven't found yet. I got spoiled using board houses. Etched boards are a real challenge at times. My hat's off to Thimios, that is all he ever uses. I'll stay after it. Hopefully I find it before my patience runs out.
Thanks a lot Valery.Hi Christophe, I like it a lot.
Here too, you can adapt-it without any modification: just a variable resistor to null the input/output difference and an other to adapt the sensibility. Just connected to the input and output of any amp 🙂
It protect against any kind of oscillation, DC in Input and Output, overload and short circuit. Note the mechanical relay and the static one can work together, for the psychotic ones.
Note too that, in case of short circuit, the mechanical relay will not have to cut a huge amount of Amps, because a FET relay in serial with the input of the amp will cut any signal in it, long time (ms ;-) before the mechanical relay will begin to think about opening himself.

thank you for the link but i just wanted files for this updated spooky ips for toner transfer method to etch my boards. 🙂
Sorry, your post read as if you were looking for professionally made boards. Pleas excuse my misunderstanding.

It is in this thread but it is easier for me to just attach the files.
Also, I'm attaching a separate screen print showing the jumper that should not be installed.
Blessings, Terry

no problem jason. you are right.i should have stated it more clearly that i am looking for the layout files. 🙂

Terry thank you.I already have this layout. OS posted an updated ''spooky'' ips (''spook-superH'') with different vas stage than the one known ''spooky v1.2. i attach it below maybe its a later release!!!!

To the best of my knowledge there was no layout for it, OS was experimenting and winding his way to the Kypton-V and Kypton-C versions. I believe the Kypton versions represent his current SOTA efforts.
Ah-hah I see now. The one you are looking for has the "super pair" in the VAS. I am currently working on the Krypton-V. I finally got one board working and am now working to find the error on the second. It has the super pair in it but the front end is more like the Blameless than the leach.
Found something VERY unique. Guru Edmund Stuart's "trans-impedance stage"
(below).
They discussed it since 2012. 😱 It has average THD
performance , lowish OLG .... but .. as a VAS - SPEED !!!
PS - it is a folded /baxandall (super-pair)???
I plan on adding a CFA input stage to it. WHOA !
Should be "nuclear" !

Shoot, I had assumed you already knew about all the Baxandall stuff, otherwise I would have filled you in. I wondered why you weren't already all over it. Oh well.
I looked at it some time ago and I really like the way a super-pair VAS is linked to double-LTP with dynamic load. I assume, it also maintains common-mode stability, although I don't understand how, as yet. Need to do more thinking 🙂
Or, if Edmund Stuart would explain - I would very much appreciate it 😉

One benefit to a very low-gain (1-3) TIS is that it can easier to make a very smooth clipping amp.

hi thimios, yes that heatsinks are from fischer-elektronik. rth = 0.34*C/W
