Slewmaster - CFA vs. VFA "Rumble"

Internet in America sucks (3'rd world performance - top dollar price).
Just to tease-you, in France, I had 1Gb download speed (fiber) and 200Mb Upload + unlimited fixed phone calls to 108 countries, unlimited phone calls to mobiles in France + TV HD for ... 30 Euros. And never a cent more...

+ Mobile without engagement: 16€, unlimited phone calls to mobiles in France, US, Canada, Alaska, Hawaï, Chine, DOM and fixed to 100 destinations...+35 Days each year of free roaming.
SMS, MMS unlimited
Internet 3G : 3Go / 3G + 4G : 20Go.

Now, I'm in Portugal. 17MB/s and at each bill, i ask myself it they are not trying to sell-me the whole country... And can't afford any mobile :-(

OS,
I can feel your pain on the internet connection. I have AT&T internet service. DSL, at the limit of the distance from the nearest node. It drops the signal all the time, you can watch it go up and down in speed and then just stop and reconnect. The system in one of the most expensive neighborhoods is some of the worst service you can get, I can barely ever watch a streaming video, it is a joke with the buffering needed. At the same time I have very few problems with Win7 except for the time a critical update blue screened my computer and I had to reinstall and block the update. Of course days later they tell you not to download and install a critical update! I going to switch to cable but I have a very bad feeling about that as my service provider is Time-Warner, no other option, and they are terrible so I may not get any better service.

ps. My daughters Apple computer connects much better than any windows computer, better connectivity, same with Linux, the Windows stack for this is the worst of the choices for internet where you don't have excellent service.

rural -1 mb max and spotty service = 110$ mo + 300$ deposit on the equipment.
City- DSL = $70 month -3mb spotty service.
or Cable= $160 a month for spotty 20mb , forced into some boobtube package +
a VOIP that they sell the number to 3rd parties for profit.

If you remember at one time the music industry wanted to outlaw cassette tapes and other tape recorders as they said everyone only wanted them to steal their music. This has never changed, they would still like to charge you for having your music on more than one device, even if you bought a CD, no copies allowed if they had their way.

Same goes for software, you in most cases are only buying a single use license for a limited time frame. Read the fine print in any of the use agreements you just click off to get something running. Bank of America now makes you sign a new document that says you have to give them your cell # so they can send you targeted ads! Just got that notice online last week.

Diptrace says it's okay to load their software on multiple machines as long as it's only in use on one computer at a time. This is right from one of their support techs in their forum. You don't hear many software companies saying something like that!

We need to know that there are different points of view....one is as right to the person presenting it as is the other. IMO not worth the time to discuss.....

Back to the arc welder......How many here are going to want these boards when we have them made?

Aw geez guys (or gals should there be any reading), let's not let the thread go off the rails now! Things are real close to the next wave of progress...

That said, I choose to pay for the things I want or need. If I don't like someone's wares, I don't open my wallet for them. I shop elsewhere until I find something I can live with. If such things are beyond my means or without justification to extend my means, I go without. Personal decisions and I sleep well for them.

Let's not denigrate one another over what really, in the grand scheme of things, are trivial. We come from different walks of life, with differing values and beliefs. Collectively, we will likely never see one another truly 'eye-to-eye' as a result. It is not for me to judge how someone else lives their life, nor the choices they make. If I'm free to live in a way that allows me to feel good about myself, then so should everyone else be too.

Anyway, things have deviated badly from the initial spirit of the thread but maybe we can steer things back on course....

Evanc,
I would like to put a pair of those boards in my collection to build later for some other applications. Put me down for a pair.

JW,
Your Canadian, how are we supposed to get along, who won that war in the 1800's anyway! :nownow: 😀 Next thing you know you guys will be sending us SAND in a pipe. 🙄

Evan,

If history is any guide, an initial order of maybe 20 pieces will likely be good for the 'early adopters'. If there is continued demand then one can re-order.
