Lovely 2 way elipsoidal dream...😛
Yeah, as if. Just cutting graphs together doesn't work in acoustics. If that would be a thing we had nothing but Super-High-End speakers. 🙄
And if you take that into account, you'll realize the revelators are much more linear, they don't introduce any peaks above the used range, they just fall of nicely and uneventful. That makes them so much easier to handle.
Ok with the rest, but i repeat, don't care a damn about axial response: never listen on axis, always, the worst possible axis...😀
PD: In mono, i listen on axis, but in 1 speaker mono mode only. In stereo toein minimum 15 to 30º so **** the on axis useless 0º response!

+1

Homework for tonight: try to mate two of those cited drivers with a simple x-over, (you must make them sound good together!) without loosing too much hair, and then we'll see 😎

Bah, you simply jalous. Ols classic 18W8545 probably just good enough for you...😉

😀 Yeah ... I like to grab things at the lighter end.... Right now (on a request from a friend, who already bought those despite my warning) I try to tame THESE to work with an SB 26STAC. 😕

Easy you think? Try to get rid of the crap between 7 and 15k with a simple notch....ain't working, with two filters it goes dead, looses all impact...😕

Yeah that thing is simply politically correct: dead flat!
I want the road and the curves rrriiizzzzeee for me!😀

No notch required, just toe that thing in and enjoy...🙂

I envy you ('cause you can't hear them), but despite being 61, I still can...
And yes, they are crawling through without the notches, and ruining all the top octaves 😡

Wht's the use of fighting against a filter to try improve a bad driver? You like this kind of challenge? Me not: if it sucks, it sucks, no eq will help...😎

Hey Dragonweed,
Would you be willing to share your in-cabinet measurements? I have been curious about these drivers too.
Thanks!

Maybe because all of my life was about fighting against odds... 😎
I admit, I like challenges, it is not a big deal to make a good speaker with two perfectly matching drivers 😀

You mean with the NAC-s? Well, I am not there yet to publish any useful results, but as soon as they are OK you will see them....

Just too good to be true, like the song...😀
Also just too bad that the bank canceled my credit card, so that i will hardly can play with those babies...

If I can't get them straight, come over and I'll give them to you....

Good man! 🙂
But my lord, what will you try to straighten, the SS Elipsoid jewels or the SBA scrap iron? 🙄

Right, I just attached the FR graph, but forgot to tell, it is the SB17 NAC series alu cone miracle... Which is an almost perfect driver, at least up to about 3 kHz.
The rest is crap 🙄. (mostly)

Yes, makes me wonder/wander about that SS DNA....😀

That's like saying "my week only consists of sundays". Or "I only drive the straights, I just leave out the bends". 🙄
Like I said, you can't just magical wish the other angle responses away. It's probably new to you but even these add up to the tonal balance - because you've got also reflections in the room! Ofcourse that can be neglected if you've got an infinitely big room (without floor) or perfect absorption. You really never heard about the energy balance? (don't know if that's the correct term, 'Energiebilanz' in German) There is actually an energy balance in the room, if you've really never heard about that, now here's the ideal time and reason to start learning something new. Ignoring physics doesn't make them go away. Really. 😉

Ach so? Loudspeaker gestalt? What's wrong with the elipsoid gestalt zo...?🙄
