Aleph J: Phase 1
I never thought I would be able to do this myself, but it was easier than I had expected. I will have a while to wait to see if I got everything done properly, because I have lots to do before I can test the pcb.
Next phase is the enclosure. I have to figure out how to drill and thread holes in the heat sinks. Never done that before, so should keep me busy for a while.

Your gonna love it. Very romantic amplifier. Still maybe the best I have heard 500hZ and up. Then again, I haevnt heard but a few🙂

I have an original Aleph 3. It is beautiful and is powering mid/hi on my Magnepan MG3A's.
I am looking forward to comparing the Aleph 3 with the Aleph J. I do worry though, that the J might run out of steam. I decided to build to the original J specifications (except slightly higher rails from 21V secondaries). The Maggies are 4 Ohm and the standard J does not like 4 Ohm.
Brian GT has boards that allows for expansion, I ran three output pairs in monoblocks, biased high.
I am using Peter Daniel boards. They also allow 3 pairs.
I currently only have 8 matched FETs, so will try stock first. Also, I am using 2 x 225VA toroids (each with 2 x 10.5V secondaries, so one will be used for V+, the other for V-) so I cannot bias very high.

hi coffin, congratulation! how does it sound? I have heard one with IRF240's, couldn't resist building one 🙂, it's just too tempting, runs very hot though ....
hi and thanks pcb. I dont actually have to much information on the cooling as this was something that was going to get thrown away. it splits into 4 parts and have alot of surface are inide. My colleague told me it was good for about 1000 watts. The plan is to use a fan from this review Recommended Fans | silentpcreview.com , hopefully i can manage to get a tolerable dB level

that depends, could be something designed for ~100-150W per channel output, that would need to cope with ~1000W of heat =)

1000W dissipation is 1000W. no matter if it is pass design or krell or what not.
