8 KT88's per channel... just how much power is it capable of? My guesstimate is 400W/ch and ca. 2kW draw from the mains
Any problems matching those tubes?
Beautiful!
Are those heat sinks for DC power to the 300B tubes?
You must be having fun listening.
No, they are for theIXCP10M90Ss in the Cathode cct, instead of resistors (72mA).
Yes, good fun, it sounds just great.

Very nice work - I like it. Is the pre-amp your own work too? The remote is a great addition.

Thanks, the HY615's are proving to be hard to get hold of, one has a temporary heater cathode short on power up, tap it with a stick and it goes quiet.
Thanks, yes, the preamp is my own work too,I too am smitten with the remote, the board etc is only a tad over £10, it has a fake Alps pot but I replaced that with a real one.

I know, I ran out of grommets but made sure the holes were sharp edge free.By the way, my word of advice: use rubber grommets for the holes

Because I always need more, 2nd project: Big Boy: 100W (measured) with 6x 6L6 in PP (pentode mode - automatic biasing), homemade transformer made from 300VA core. Sounds loud and very aggressive.

EL34 amp
Hi all, I just finished some days ago my EL34 single ended amp.
Driver stage by 6CG7 (SRPP) with a small amount of NFB. I inserted at a later time a dpdt toggle switch to go from triode mode to U.L.
I built the side part from wood as. Then I obtained the upper metal shelf starting from the cabinet of an old desktop pc which later I sprayed with heat-resistant satin black paint.

indaco,
Your amplifier looks very attractive.
Good work!
What are your loudspeakers?
I bet there are nice sounds both in Triode; and nice sounds in U.L.
Perhaps the best selection of Triode / U.L. is according to the music, and volume required?
Is there a B+ choke under the hood?
Thanks!

Thanks 6A3sUMMER!
I choose one instead the other depending upon the music I listen to.
I find the triode more intimate and sweet, UL especially with certain passages (ie orchestral or organ) is more captivating.
Yes, the choke is just under the trasfo, in the psu unit inside. As soon as I can I'll post the photo of the "guts"

If you mean the cubic aluminium enclosure above I got it from another DIYer living in France, together with a pair of Al enclosures for the OTs.
The transformer has been rewound by myself, 150VA , with B+ secondary made from 0.48mm dia. Ouput B+: 0-310V for heaters: 0-6.3V and 3.15-0-3.15V.
Now running at B+ 330Vdc, in the psu it's employed a C-L-C-R-C (+another final R-C to the driver tubes)

I took the scenic route with respect to the build
Well, what can I say? Superb workmanship!
Very nicely done. What are you using as vibration damping, two layers of foam? As you've noticed (and depending on your luck) some are super susceptible to vibration.DIY Revival of the Extinct TTVJ Sangaku

EDIT: Nevermind, I see it is what Pete is offering now. Guess I better order one of these puppies!
