How does the amp sound?
I have built some el84se and ecl 86 , but i am not satisfied with the sound. I used some opt who came from some old radios...

sound quite happy, this is the first tube amp, built on the ruins of the old tube TVs, and by the way the construction itself cost a penny.
Next my SE 2E26 & 6Н8С. I changed 815 to 2E26 GE. Heating 6.3 V, Ia about 35 ma, Bias minus 15 V, output power about 1.5 W. Sound is brightest than another my tubes /ex. my OTL/. Picture is with 815, that was changed to 2E26 GE. Plate is inside on the balloon.

This is only bamboo tray that I bough from market, and I used for my experiments
Today I put on this tray Russian 30П1С with the same pretube 6Н8С and the sames big OTs....After listening I thing hard, IMO, this is the best Russian tethrod from all Russian tetrods and penthods, that I tried. I thing the best are EL11 Telefunken, 30П1С /30P1S/, 4П1Л /4P1L/ and ......
IMO, I think, the best LF sounding have output triodes, like 2A3, 45, 6BL7, 300BJJ, Sovtec /I put 6BL7 before 300B/, maybe 6S4S and Amer. variant....These tubes sound deepest....
TV tubes are more for MF and HF. Tubes, that I tried, E236L, E130L, 6P36S, 6P45S, 2E26, PL...decrease LF from 40-30 Hz.
I didn't tried big quantity of tubes, but every time, when I try different output tubes, result, IMO, is like above. Sorry, Your opinions maybe are different....

I built this phono pre for a friend, nothing fancy, just a quickie. Anyway, he's pretty happy with it and listens to records everyday. He's weird this friend of mine, only plays singles. No LP's no CD's ....huh? Pre sounds pretty good. 6DJ8's....designed by.....oh I forgot his name.

Neat balanced headphone amplifier from Bottlehead. Uses 12AU7 for power and two 6C45-Pi. This build features a powdercoated antique copper top plate, copper-leaf wood base, big 10uF Jupiter capacitors, and classy Cardas copper wire.
