O2 amp Australian parts GB

Man, how many times does BlueFusion have to go down to the post office and kick their butts before they send the things? Don't they realize how very displeased he is? 🙄

Remember the times when BF would post to this thread every day, then every couple of days. Then he got our money and would pop in every couple of weeks...wonder when/if we'll see him again? 😛

Clearly sending him the money was a mistake. As he told us many times he's happy to work long unpaid hours for weeks on end...

If it wasn't for ddw I wonder if we'd have gotten anything at all from our friend in Adelaide? I'm grateful I got my amp parts and was able to complete the build in time for the holidays. We owe you big time mate, and haven't forgotten your out of pocket expenses.

I support making a legal claim for the balance owing, though we need someone with the time and inclination to pursue it properly. Sending a collector is another possibility, might reduce the return but not require as much of a time investment.

Anyway, I'm keen to get at least a couple of panels from a FPE group buy, we may as well get that ball rolling soon. :hphones:

I have a draft letter with some wording I wanted to re-hash. I've attached where I got to with it a week or so ago. I've followed the pro-formas set out on some government websites for debt collection in SA. Basically they hinge on establishing an amount owed for a particular service/goods that have not been received. This is then sent to the party who is in debt along with a deadline for payment to be made.

I believe that DDW is away from home dealing with some family issues at present but since he is owed the most I wonder if he is the best to take lead on this. I will try to make this process simpler for him where I can and start collating some of the information that I think will be necessary, hopefully it will mean less of his time required since he has already done so much for all of us!

DDW FOR PRIME MINISTER!!

Tonight I have to diagnose some problems with my power amp and write another letter for some body corporate cr4p. Anyway, I digress, tomorrow I will do an extract from my finances and create table that shows all names against qty of plugpacks and perhaps panels too and total value owed. Those that have confirmed in the thread that they are interested in pursuing the funds owed will be then be added to the letter.

We will need more personal information to add to the letter, mainly: Full name, address, preferred contact method (email or phone most likely), forum name and a summary of goods paid for and not yet received.

I see two options:

1] If you would rather keep these details as private as possible then perhaps wait for DDW to return then PM/email to him.

2] If you would like then PM me and I'll give you my email address or mobile phone number (whichever method that you prefer) that you can send them to. I can add this to template now and further reduce the work required by DDW hopefully. I will email the word doc to DDW when he's ready to look at it.

As a side note: My finances spreadsheet does not take into account extras purchased and not yet payed for / reconciled. Has anyone got any suggestions for how that reconciliation should take place?

EDIT: Nikon1975, I've PMed you!

EDIT2: When sending personal details it would be really handy if you include some communication to the effect that you would like DDW to act on your behalf in pursuing the debts owed to you.

hahaha DDW go get him son!! show him what for. bring a bench supply, a gas powered soldering iron and a big flat tip, smash or overvolt all his favorite lasers and LEDs one by one:mischiev: and then go at the fingers with the iron, show him that geeks dont take no sh1t without comeuppance :whip::smash::headshot::wchair:

such a strange scam :scratch1:, its just like the other ones i.e. buying most of the stuff like that and then frittering the rest away in such a pitiful manner; making excuses to try to make people sorry for him in the hope they'll just forget about it; coz hes such a poor poor student. its really like hes incapable of even scamming people properly..... kinda like he thought he could do the same thing inb australia without the ocean and legal boundaries in the way.

sorry for gratuitous emoticons

hehe, i couldnt think of a more appropriate collective noun. i dont mind geek, though it doesnt apply in the classical sense to most of us i'm sure, we are do what most would describe as pretty geeky stuff for fun; even if it may be in aid of getting the best sub bass snarl out of our headphones

@DDW Many condolences. Watch out for those black rats though, they can get nasty and are dangerous in packs!

I am quite comfortable with my geekiness, just having a dig because I want something to distract me from looking at the empty front of my O2 enclosure!

Oh that and the fact that my minidsp outputs like -70dB compared to hooking output directly to my power amp while indicating in software that its giving near full scale output. For no good reason, that I have found yet. 😕😡

EDIT: I badgered BF for most of today and got him to email me a picture of a 'good' panel. Finally it came through, I've attached it now. You may notice that not once has he given any indication as to how well they fit on an assembled O2 ...

It's a mate from work but a bloke who had an effect in a lot of people. I don't drunk rum but I am drinking a lot of black rats. I'm happy to run with it and once I fly home and work out which way is up I will use the drafted letter and send it to BF and sort it out.

indeed condolences are in order, its been a bad year for that stuff for me also, well last year was and i hope ive seen the end of it. cant say ive met any black rats but they sure sound like they might result in a bad taste in the mouth in the morning.

dont worry hochopeper, i know you were just having a laugh. embrace the inner geek. sorry i have zero experience with the miniDSP, is this the first time youve hooked it up?

the panel looks like it was done with a blunt hand drill, looks like a de-burrer is on the shopping list

Guess what?

My wife just picked up the post from PO Box in the city, I have a panel now. Its fairly bent though so I'll be trying to straighten it as well as check if it fits. No way of telling if it was bent before or after posting since BF didn't show anyone any evidence that the panels were infact ok before he sent them. Quite possible that it happened in post but I have my reservations.

I have some photos on my phone that my wife sent to me, about to run off to a meeting so will upload them later.

The return to sender part is a sticker and the postage processing stamp reads the 8th.

There is no way they were posted until last week, unless BF runs around everywhere with a bunch of stickers with his home address on them. I just don't see him as 'that guy' though.

Hi all! I haven't had time to sit down and put it together yet, but was just checking the parts vs the BOM. There were only 3 things different from the BOM as labelled on the packets (which I assume makes no difference otherwise someone would have mentioned it by now obviously), but fortunately I have all the parts! 😀

C6, C7: 1.0uF 25V MLC Cap (BOM) --> 0.22uF Film Cap (Ours)
R9: 33K Ohm 1/8W 1% Metal Film (BOM) --> 40.2K Ohm Resistor (Ours)
R25: 1.5Meg 1/8W 5% Film (BOM) --> 2.74M Ohm Resistor (Ours)

I'll drop by my postbox and check for the panel at lunchtime today. But was wondering what the situation with the plugpacks was at present. Oh, and thanks so much to DDW for sorting this all out! What was the plan with sorting him out for any cash he's out of pocket?

Urgh. If I can't find my soldering iron soon amongst all the junk in the garage, I think I'll have to buy a new one! 🙂

Thanks!
Taz.

From memory that looks about right for the substitutions. Some of the resistor values changed on the latest version of the BOM as a revision for low battery shut down issue that was seen by some users, this revision happened after this GB was well and truly set on this long and meandering path of woe.

Plugpacks are to be refunded. We are working out a letter to BF to advise him of his outstanding debts, this will happen in the next day or so.

There are a few possible alternatives for the plugpack that have been tested to have sufficient output voltage, I posted about one and fordgtlover posted about another. I could dig up some links later if I have a bit more time, the answers are somewhere in this thread though, dig long enough and you'll find some diamonds amongst all the cr4p.

On the plus side I can confirm that the sound from your O2, when built, will be a pleasant surprise 🙂

my mp-3020 gives 19.1V unloaded at the input caps, which translates to

(19.1+0.7)/1.414=14Vac from the plugpack

I got my panels today as well, only thing is I didn't get rest for for the international orders; waiting to hear from BF to see if he forgot that he was meant to send them to me so I could post them with the rest of their kit, or he has posted them directly overseas.

Words can not explain the frustration.
