That's great BF!
I can't wait for the 'main group' to be shipped so that I can have some of the leftovers. Lol.
I thought it was quite impossible for you to 'run away' when we are in Au and we have your details. And for a few ks? Haha.
Keep it coming BF!

BF, I just noticed you've not mentioned the wallwart in the updates, are they in transit also?
Any news on the front panels also?
I'd be happy to help out with putting kits together if we can work out a suitable method of shipping.
Since the shipping costs will be significant. It may be worth sending to people in capital cities for each state and they do a final collation of parts and localised distribution?

Agreed. I can handle the ACT and surrounding areas. I just want this finalized so very badly! I purchased a set of headphones requiring the use of an amp - needless to say it's been a very long wait!
Done. The only reason is, that upon comparing my distribution list and GB list - there is only one chap who ordered a board but not parts from me (and his is en-route). Oh, and one other who may no longer want his board - you know who you are, shoot me a PM if you'd like to unload it.Thanks for the pics and tracking info!
Please remove my name from the photos like you did your address.
Any reason the pcbs to those who ordered from olli direct aren't in some of those postage satchels?
As above - you all ordered kits and boards! I'm extremely pleased by all these offers of help - but funds are already low and I don't really want to be shipping >15kg of parts across the country several times!BF, thank you for posting these details. It seems that things are moving in the right direction.
When do you expect to start shipping the boards for those without kits, and then the boards and kits?
40 kits is a lot of kits and I'm happy to help.
Again - extra costs. It would end up costing more, not less, due to shipping the stuff twice.BF, I just noticed you've not mentioned the wallwart in the updates, are they in transit also?

Wallwarts - I need to confirm if anybody else wants to pull out before I order the backup option of UK plugs on them. RS ships fast - so if I can order Monday they'll still beat the batteries here. The only hangup would be that i'd love you to all source your own adaptor plugs - I can't find a better option for these but ebay and I don't want to hold you up again with ridiculous untrackable international shipping. I know this is a clumsy and annoying solution but to be frank i'm out of ideas and I don't want to drag this out further. Again - if your local jaycar has a pack (MP3020) go buy it and let me know so I don't order one for you!
To reiterate - at this point if nobody else pulls out I'll be ordering 29 wallwarts Monday night. If anybody can find me somebody who sells UK to AU adaptors at a good price with fast shipping, point me in the right direction.
I also have a whole bunch of stuff to sell off ASAP - 3-4 complete kits and some other bits. I really need this gone or I literally can't afford to post all your stuff out. If any of you have some spare dough - there is a market for these amps, consider building a second and selling it! Save the postage, i can fit several in the 3kg satchels.
As for the front panels - they'll be going off to the machinist ASAP now that I have the enclosures. Again, they should be back before the batteries. I'll take some pictures - 50 enclosures and 50 front panels should be an impressive sight!
Thanks for the new updates BF!
You can leave the wallwart out for my order.
If it does work out cheaper in any way I'm happy to arrange any parts orders to anyone else in Brisbane/Sunshine/GoldCoast areas. I'll drive them there myself, if they are happy with that of course.

BF. I'll happily take an extra kit, once all the parts are here and you are ready to ship - let me know.

+1
I'd like to see front panels sorted out especially.
Yep - they're the next priority. The fun part will be removing one panel from each of 50 enclosures... as you can see they're well packed.+1

Thanks to the both of you - I'll let you know when everything is ready to go and you can claim your extras then. 🙂

The numbers for this don't really add up from the info we've been given. olli confirmed that he posted 66 pcbs, 37 of which are for orders paid via you. Looking at the numbers of parts orders in the now apparently outdated spreadsheet I would have guessed there should be a few more pcbs without parts orders. Unless a bunch of those that ordered pcbs from olli ordered 3pcbs and only 2 kits.
qusp mentioned in the thread earlier (post #192) that he hasn't seen his pcb and had no parts order. Is he the mystery person you refer to?

Can you confirm you're meaning Monday 14th November 2011 in central daylight time (CDT / UTC+10:30). That is now tonight right? Just want to be sure 🙂

ASAP doesn't show up on my calendar either unfortunately. I don't want you to make another promise you can't make, just tell us when to expect or we'll all be getting concerned again.
I notice the mouser order is now onboard for delivery, hopefully you'll have a huge collection of parts by the time you see this?
Keep the info coming and we'll all stay cheery! 😀

same here, will take another extra kits (just the components)
thanks

I'll make my own arrangements for a wallwart if you can't one with an AU plug
thanks
Once everything is actually in, *then* let us know what's left over. Some people might want to buy extra parts or entire kits. We're still assuming that mistakes haven't been made and incorrect numbers or defective parts haven't been shipped from overseas!
I'll probably be interested in a second kit...
I'll probably be interested in a second kit...
Before xmas it will indeed.
As stated - yes I have a lovely big box from Mouser. I perhaps wasn't very clear before about the wallwarts - so to make absolutely sure everybody is clear: unless I hear otherwise I'm ordering you a wallwart with a UK plug on it tomorrow evening, tues 15 nov, and yes central aus time.
Since I have a lot of the parts I'm now getting started with sorting and distributing the parts. I'll post you all some lovely pictures tuesday afternoon. This will also mean I have a definite idea of how many spare kits and spare parts I've got.
To clarify a few points about the PCBs - yes, a lot of people ordered more PCBs than kits. qusp is one who ordered only PCBs as of yet - and I will admit it is an oversight on my part that he hasn't received them yet, though at this point I'd like to confirm with him that he still wants them - if he does they'll go out express (the upgrade is on me).
Again on the psu / plugpack - I'm entirely aware that using foreign plugs with adaptors is inelegant at best, and a significant inconvenience to many of you. This is simply due to the fact that for some absurd reason it's cheaper to put a UK plug on them than an australian one, apparently (as I surmise from searching various suppliers).
I did have a supplier at the time of pricing this GB (Jaycar) but in what may or may not be a coincidence their entire supply of the relevant item was exhausted before I could place my order.
To give you some numbers on the front panels - I'll be pulling them all out tomorrow as I'm doing the packaging so they will ship at the latest on Wednesday 16th. I'll get a completion estimate from my machinist soon as I can get in touch with him.

Thanks BlueFusion for the news!
I am personally ok with the situation on the plugpacks, jaycar situation is out of our control and majority of people hopefully have one local enough that they can source through.
For my own peace of mind I've gone through the list of items in the mouser order tonight.
The first piece of news is that I believe everything needed is in there so a big win for BF there!!
I just want to bring some minor details to peoples attention though, mostly because there are a few first timers around that may miss some of the details:
1. In what I think is a (very understandable given size of the order) typo by BF for the part that has been purchased for R16 & R22. The item purchased is model number: KOA MF1/4DCT52R1501F rather than the recommended alternative of KOA MFS1/4DCT52R1501F. The main difference here is the size. The part is 7mm long compared to the <3.9mm spec. Small difference here needs to be noted as could change way you choose to mount to the pcb.
2. In the extra resistor kit the 2x gain kit resistors for R19 and R23 have been substituted for a part with 1/10W power rating rather than 1/8W in the BOM from nwavguy. I don't think this will present any huge concerns.
From what I've found looking so far the rest of the part substitutions seem reasonable. Even the 2 noted are not likely to be of practical consequence.
I have kept a record of all of the checks that I did in a spreadsheet and can share it if anyone wants, its just a list of the mouser order lines against the BOM part numbers as posted by nwavguy with number of parts required for kits ordered as I could determine through public copy of BF's GB spreadsheet.
On that note a big thanks to BF for the work in putting that order together, certainly not a small amount of work in compiling that order!

yes please i'll still take them, i'll just build them up leisurely and probably add to a friends dac as a surprise, i have no need for them personally, i never have.

Hey BF,
Thanks for the update! Things are starting to look good!
The Jaycar part MP3020 is speced at 12vac which is lower than the suggested 14-16vac (by nwavgy).
I thought you were talking about MP3021 or MP3059 (not sure if 1.5amp is too much?)
What's the UK wallmart specs?
Anyway I think I will source my own, if you could refund me the price of X2 wallmarts.
Thanks

Fortunately, the power supply doesn't try to stuff the 1.5 amps down the line and blow the amp. The amp will draw what it needs, so 1.5 amps will be fine.
The only changes that I made were for out-of-stock parts from Mouser. The larger resistor is an unfortunate consequence - but it was a choice between that or not getting the order for many more weeks (or a less high spec resistor). On that note a big thanks to BF for the work in putting that order together, certainly not a small amount of work in compiling that order!

To be picky - it's wall wart not walmart 🙂Hey BF,

The issue which caused nwavguy to up the recommended voltage was that some supposedly 12v transformers are actually designed to be 11.5v or less as they are intended for powering halogen downlights. I have personally measured the MP3020 and it has more than enough volts for us. 🙂
The UK-plugged part actually lists its no-load and low-load voltages in the datasheet - again, more than enough volts.
So - you're welcome to source your own. I'll put you on the list for a refund for 2 wallwarts - however i'm scraping the bottom of the barrel by purchasing the remaining UK ones for everyone else so it'll have to wait until I sell off some spare parts. Sorry 🙁
Now for an update - i've pulled out one front panel from each of the 50 enclosures and they'll be going off tomorrow (Wed). I'm now getting stuck into sorting, separating and labelling the mass of parts into your individual kits.
