so a bit of a dilemma over the front panel text
i have explored almost every venue here, decals(shows the plastic on the front cover)
rub on text from printing(text does not show up)
vinyl lettering sits proud of the surface and could be picked off, and i cant get exact text and size
options, are individual decal letters, which will be time consuming, but possible then seal the surface after but i cant get the correct font and exact colour
so what to do
if i was to use a similar, but not exact font would this matter?
if the colour cant be exact should i then consider something that is deliberately different to show it is a modification, but not standing out too much
i ask your thoughts on the matter guys to see what you think
many thanks

so this is now my thoughtA contrast (something totally different) can often look good.
the problem is, and you wouldn't think so, is getting the print to actually show up on the plastic
it must be translucent
I've no answer to that I'm afraid. Plastic isn't always the easiest stuff to work with in any case. If its for you own use then you probably don't need the rear panel marking.

Hmmm. It might look better just left unmarked then if its only you using it. I made that choice with amp, an unmarked front but lettering on the rear panel.
Laser lettering, should work, ask for a sample from someone with a laser cutter for plastic, they are common now.
A friend has one, and he made set squares for his kids, just for fun, reduced the power for letters, cut the things from acrylic sheets.
Makes fine lines which stand out on dark surfaces.
You can give a CAD file, easy enough.
And you have a vast choice of fonts in most CAD programs, you can try one nearly similar to the NAD original one.
Corel Draw (among others) can change the height / width ratio of pictures, that gives added flexibility in modifying fonts.

I'll have a think about that one. Actually I'm not sure what I'm gonna do with it yet. So progress was slow due to the heat last night but I've finished the clip switch mod and secured the wiring, and offered up the first new connector, it is I guess you could say its a mk1 version, things I wouldn't do next time, but the first is always a design and buildHmmm. Lettering has always been one of the big problems with any diy stuff. For the rear panel on my amp I used a contrasting paint colour (silver grey) and used rub on letters. I can't remember if I masked it off and dusted those over with lacquer afterwards.
Front was left blank (pics are old and low res).

Drink too much water. Hydration is very important in hot weather.
And home remedy is a pinch of salt, teaspoon of sugar in a glass of water...called Oral Re hydration Salts, as sold commercially for heat stroke.
Can drink as much as you can tolerate.
Add rock salt, lemon juice, pineapple juice, rose sorbet, lime juice cordial, or whatever you like to enhance the flavor.
Sorry, off topic, but a little relevant due to current heat waves in Europe.
We are used to it, but for you it will be stressful.

Post #108 above, it was hot, and heat can be insidious.
"So progress was slow due to the heat last night"...
So my advice was about how to deal with the heat.

You see I think that looks OK blank.👍 If I can't find what I'm looking for I may go a little different. Good thing is I've got some old rubbish to practice onLettering has always been one of the big problems with any diy stuff. Thanks and it works fine blank because I know the order of the input selector for example... and it looks classy. Ha 😉
You may notice the first gold connector is yellow. Actually they all are so I'm re colouring each one. That's all I could get cliff electronics, the only ones I could find only do gold to special order, min 5000 order. Found these at farnels, only ones out there the right sizeThanks and it works fine blank because I know the order of the input selector for example... and it looks classy. Ha 😉
