Quick results test one, Saturday - Caddocks in C13 sound more open and detailed when writing side faces the LM3886. Maybe even a little more low end.The other way narrows the stage and sounds compressed. At least that's what I'm getting.

Thanks - For those who may be interested, I made a small four part test mix so I wouldn't loose acoustic memory over time.

1. Big Band - Monster kick drum, deep elect bass, prominent cymbal, stage and dynamics.

2. Elect piano that has the raggedness as mentioned earlier.

3. Same as #2 but acoustic piano.

4. Voice, bell, guitar and stage.

Zip file has both flac and wav - https://www.box.com/s/081ad14b36fd4e4bf894

Caddocks definitely sound cleaner. There is a bit more musicality with the KOAs but it's cloudy and smeared in comparison. IMHO a clear winner here... Mr.C

In these days, after falling in love with them, I'm going to divorce... 😀

I find them a bit 'grey', a bit lifeless.

I'm enjoing more carbon films and Susumus, but obiously it could change.

Let's see what happens in the next days.

In R104/R204 also I prefer KOA MF and now I'm testing Susumus.

All those shunt resistors are very difficult to select...

Apart R10, here Rikens are the best, followed by KOA SPR1.

Quick results test two, Saturday - It appears he is not crazy after all. The Caddocks facing the other direction (away from LM3886) appear brighter, the stage is a tad wider and separation is improved. What was most noticeable was more of the metalic element in the guitar strings. I heard more ssss-eness in the voice but not enough to call it distortion. Writing to front wins.

I wonder if the big boys sucker the newest, youngest employee into doing this kind of tinkering ??:boggled::whip:

C30 next....

Test #3 - C30 Euro KP1830 1nf. First run, no burn-in - a little cleaner, possible more punch to the kick drum. The combination of these and the Caddocks in test #2 adds to the 3D element of the stage - not dramatic but noticeable.

Going to run a pass or two of the IsoTek and will report again in about an hour.

O.K. this on is more difficult. I did burn-in multiple caps at the same time but replaced the not yet tested with the former/stock pieces. Zeroing in on C30 (post 513) was at once very clean and at the same time more dispersed. Some trumpet licks that were mostly centered now appear pushed to the right. I did a double swap to confirm and would have to say this is the least effective and benificial of todays swaps. The fret noises sound more natural in one orientation with good mids and bass but the stage is too messed up.

Going to stop for the day but will continue in the morning.

Cheers !
