Hi,
In case of V2 - Is there any optional display/showing the level of attenuation? (LED numbers, LED-bar, display...etc)
Thanks!

Can the Muses be connected to a Pi Pico and OLED for the custom display of selected Input and Volume levels on an HP Preamp?
Hoping to incorporate in a Whammy HP amp.

I have a trivial question if I may. 😉
If one wants to move the encoder and the IR receiver away from the controller board, how long a cable can be used ?
For example 25~30cm ? Does it have to be shielded ?
Thx,
Patrick

Second controller board build was successful. Microcontroller initializes and responds to IR code learning and parameters selection. BTW, IR receiver is connected with 30 cm unshielded flat cable and operates flawlessly with excellent sensitivity.
Seems that despite all proper ESD precautions first MCU went south somehow.
But, my fun continues. There is no sound from volume control board. Looks like I’m destined to build everything twice.

Default microcontroller parameters are set different than stated in documentation (at least with my MCU). Noticing that idle state LED is lit while volume is muted and not the opposite, I’ve put balanced mode setting to 000 and voila, it works.
While entering parameter value 0, zeros must be entered at slow pace, otherwise it will trigger again parameter mode entry which is 000 as well.
Thanks... Waiting for some parts to become available, but looking forward to it.Yes, you can write your own firmware 😉

Balance and volume step adjustments are great addition to V2 Muses volume. With 1 dB steps, my 64 step encoder behaves and feels like hi-end classic potentiometer, but this is incomparably better volume control than any potentiometer.
However, balance control reveals some discrepancy to what is left or right channel. Per documentation, left channel is on X4 connector and that’s how it was connected in the preamplifier. Increasing balance on the left channel (parameter 2) actually increases volume on right channel. Is this supposed to work like that? If so, it would help to add a note or correct what is written at page 4, where is for both L & R parameters written the same.

Another question if I may.
For the optional display, do I have to use the adafruit 4x7 0.56" ?
Or would any 4x7 LED with TM1637 be OK ?
Thx again,
Patrick

Hi Patrick,
v1 only is compatible with a display.
TM1637 is not supported, you have to use the adafruit.
I have another project with the TM1637:
A HPA-1 Clone with 3 inputs and a „high end“ Muses version.

I know. But I only need volume and I only have 50x50mm space,
So V2 would have been good, but unfortunately no display.
Thx anyway,
Patrick

Hi Daniel,
Any chances to order v2 stereo set? Just started HPA-1 project and it would be a great companion.
Thanks in advance,
Jerzy

Tested my setup this weekend (finally). Seems no sound is passing through the bottom board of the balanced set. Relays are working fine. MCU is set to balanced. Swapped VA boards and both work fine in the top slot. Thoughts?
Would be very interested in a stereo set, but the Muse72323 seems to be out of stock until November at Mouser 😢
Are there any other suppliers for the chip, could not find any...

Forgot to follow up on this thread that my v2 setup working properly now. Had a misconfigured relay. You don't short the center contacts together on the output relay on the main board. Got it right on one board, wrong on the other. DOH! 🙂
