FYI this is Fig. 2 of US patent 5389889 by Towne et al., Allegro Microsystems Inc.
Temperature-compensated current source for use in a hall analog magnetic-field detector - Allegro Microsystems, Inc.
yes that is what I found.
Like I said similar to the idea I had but this works for CCS.
What do you think?
EDIT: have you used this since you had link available right away? Does it work well?
I have seen the Bartola Gyrator. Depletion mosfets can also being run on fixed bias.
That could help to stabilize drift. I have the depletion CCS on my bench and could try this rather fast.

Since you claim it "is a very good idea for a temp compensated CCS" I thought you tried it ?
Stefano, you could try to build your solution and i will setup the Bartola CCS.
That is easier for me because i have the DN2540 allraedy on the bread board.

sounds good...
I will try to build it tonight.

No I didn't. I meant to say that it looks like a clever idea and IMHO has potential to work.
I mean logic is straightforward and wouldn't see why it wouldn't work.
How it sounds, I have no clue.
Maybe this is easier to bias although Gm is lower then in the bigger one :http://documentation.renesas.com/doc/products/transistor/rej03g0122_2sj76ds.pdf
Unfortunately this is an EOL product.

I found this, very similar to my original design :http://bildarkiv.hififorum.nu/Ryssen/Pic/Rör/diyAudio-CCS-beta2.pdf
In his book he mentions an HF / RF transistor with very low output capacitance.
Have to look it up.

Jaochim, could you please let us know when you have run the Bartola CCS how it works and how much gain do you get out of the gain stage?
Stefano, i am a bit slow today, sorry.
I had to redesign the Bartola because i do not have the small Supertex depletion mosfets.
I am trying a J-Fet for biasing now.
Franz has designed a stable CSS too. He requested that i review it before he posts it.

Concerning the noise from the CCS i thought that the noise will be divided by the gain the CCS brings. So it can be higher noise then the input stage. Also the output node is high impedance so i think the current noise matters more then the voltage noise. This is only a tendency and i hope i am right. I did not come up with a formula so far but it may be already somewhere in the books.
Dear friends :
I had an unpleasant experience today. Many people are calling me that got an e-mail that i am in Manila, have being robbed and need money. This is not a joke, it´s true.
Please ignore this mail. Someone has cracked my account and sends out spam.
I have taken counter measures and i hope that is sufficient.
Very strange...

Dear Mathias xxxxxxx - xxxxxxxx.de
Thank you for bidding on the
0.51uF 400V PIO Capacitors MBGP2. Lot of 12
Me and my wife were on a bicycle trip to South East Asia in July and August
when we got robbed by a gunned gang in Eastern Sri Lanka about a week into
our trip. The robbery left us without part of our funds and the ability to communicate with the supporting ebay assistants back in Lithuania who were supposed to handle the orders while we were away.
Large number of orders accumulated upon our return in mid August. It also generated quite a bit of negative feedback from the buyers and it ruined our Top Seller reputation hardly earned through a 12 year eBay business experience. As we finally back home safely I'll try to do everyting to return a good feedback record on eBay.
Your order has been processed between August 17 and August 22. You should receive it shortly. Sorry about being unable to communicate in a timely manner, there is still enormous amount of email backlog to sort out, I am working hard and lacking time that's why I try to automate replies whenever possible to speed up things a little.
The order has been shipped to the following address:
Everything was delivered as announced, but late.
All this robbing and gunning !
In what world do we life today ?
Anyway, good news, The J-Fet - Depletion Fet CSS is rock solid and the stage amplifies.
Circuit comes soon.

I have some concerns about the gain i am getting. If i have not wired something wrong it seems too low.
